JeffC rocks! Did the vintage-ish 1985 heavily tracked Fcar oil / trans fluid changes myself (and sent UOA to the lab for testing). The B took about 13 QUARTS of oil, so let someone else do it and deal with all that.

Glorious sound, have a listen to one of my very early tracks days when yours truly was a newbie, so yeah missed a shift in one spot, etc. Was letting him pass me during the first straight, yet the Mitsu driver loved the sound of the Fcar so hung behind me for a lap or two.

About 1200 because it's a month old 230i. Reliability is when you have 75-80k miles, at least, in my book.

Depends how hard it's driven as well. I don't baby the car, even with 12K miles, it does have a flash tune (DME opened up) and 10 dyno runs on it at high speed(s). I haven't experienced any creaks, rattles etc that typically pop up on 'new' cars initially. Mine has been solid, hence my post. Zero warranty issues to date. My other cars have 188K (200+ track passes), 185K, a sold Benz with 150K,and now a CPO'd X3 w/ 60K. I know 'reliability', trust me...and it doesn't have be 75-80k miles......

Is there any extra maintenance/repair items with tracking? Maybe brake fluid change in last 6 months, tires and brakes?
To be honest you would think you would have to have maintenance the car more often but you really don't. I just make sure my car is fresh before I go track. New oil, rotors, brakes. I upgraded to the big brake kit and it's amazing. The only thing I HATE is replacing the rotors lol super expensive for myself but I can't help but track haha. As for tires, I have the MPSS and they actually last me all year even with two track days. Definitely recommend those.

Thank you! I'm lucky so far haha. I always get scared seeing posts about other bmws having issues quite often than usual.

Nice! Glad to hear that. Are you running any performance mods?
So far just injen air intake, brembo big brake kit, JB4, H&R springs, custom dual exhaust, and the m sport body kit. It's been a big difference compared to when I first got it (base model) lol

My brake started to make some noise at parking speed when it was about 6 months old, dealer done some servicing brake pad job, and it was good for a month or so, then the noise came back, don't bother to go anymore as it was not a big deal.
But my dad's 2013 328i was having more issues, at around 13,000km(8125 miles), the battery warning light came on, dealer told him to do more long trip (over 30 minutes) and shut down all electrical, then it disappeared. I guess it was the energy re-generation system didn't play well on daily short trips. At app. 19,000km (11,875 miles), the ABS warning signal came on, along with 6 other warning lights such as DSC, ...so on. It was a faulty ABS sensor , it cost HK$3000(US$385), follow up a thermostat not willing to shut down (detected by a regular check up), another $2000(US$1250) to replace it. So far so good after that.
My old man is 80, he only does short trips and hardly go over 3000rpm, is the stop and go traffic really mess up the car more than spirited driving?

In the US, the F30 thermostat has extended limited warranty, and/or "technical campaign" to replace. The other issue of ABS sensor does not look too expensive to fix.

The high ambient temp in Hong Kong probably is quite taxing to thermostat too.

It does? On all models, and for how long?

FYI, my 328i also has extended limited warranty(ELW) for fuel leak diagnostics module, plus recently got turbo oil feed line replaced under open "technical campaign".

BMWNA has yet to send me a letter for the ELW on thermostat ....

Not on all models I'm not showing any recalls on mine, but it is fairly new LCI

You got this piece of information from me. The F30 does not come with a N63 so no worries then! The N20 is equally as reliable as the N52.

I dont think so dude.. lots of timing chains and oil pressure issues with the n20. the n52 had no such problems but I am not going to keep talking about this.

as long as you get an f30 that is solidly built (no creak and rattles) and you opt for the n55 or b58, I think it is a fine automobile. but I would never in my life buy the n20.

also, everyone knows that the n63 is a piece of shit. I read about that long before you even told me. it is one hell of a v8 though....
