I purchased a 6-pack of NGKs from an eBay seller with excellent feedback. They arrived in the gray/white BMW boxes with part #, labeled Made in Japan, with a Made in China sticker on the clear plastic bag containing the plug boxes. The washer looked legit vs. the one in the OP's photos. I messaged the seller about them, questioning whether they were "real" based on the China sticker. He admitted they were counterfeit, and refunded the purchase price as well as return shipping. Live & learn.

sorry to revive this thread. Last year I bought spark plug directly from the BMW Dealer. they were quit similar to the one from the factory on the engine except that the BMW logo was green on them and blue on the new one. After the replacement (engine was 50 000 km) I got several misfires from the cylinder #1 and #2, I was thinking that I had a problem with the coil, so I exchange them and I was still getting misfire from cylinder #1. Probably the coil was not pushed correctly. After replacing the spark plug # 1 with the old one the misfire was gone, I put back the new one and the misfire was present. So the spark plug was probably defective.
2 weeks ago I bought new spark plug for another BMW but this time from Ebay, 4 for 25$...same as the ones from the dealer and same as the OP pictures. I get again misfires, this time from cylinder #3 and #4. The coil #4 was mis placed but on the cylinder #3, I had to put back the old spark plug.
The question is I'm very unlucky to get defective spark plug, are they both fake or can a dealer resell fake ones?

I wouldn't put it past an unscrupulous dealer to buy fake plugs and sell them as real. It's a lot higher profit margin than the real thing.

If you thinK you are receiving counterfeit plugs (or other parts) from your BMW Dealership, report that to BMWNA. I think they would be less than impressed with that dealership.

Im honestly not sure they are fake.

I do get your hesitation though.

You could try contacting NGK to see what they think. Im sure they'd be interested to know a guy is selling counterfeit on eBay

In many cases knock-offs come out of the same factory as the real deal. Copyright and patent protection doesn't exist there.
