The sport module should have some type of bluetooth connection security.
Same here. I didn't need a password.

I'm also unable to see what setting I'm in after launching the app. I assume its in the last one which I set, but it would be nice to see it directly every time the app is launched.

Also, I just took a 1k road trip with the tuner on sport+ mode the entire time. Didn't have any issues at all. I did a few WOT runs and you can def feel the improvement. Highly worth the $299.

I'm driving home yesterday enjoying the acceleration from the B58 as I run through the gears of my 6-speed, and then I realized that I'm still in comfort mode. I almost never drive in comfort mode, but I didn't notice with the Dinan Sport in sport+ mode. So, definitely some power increases! I'm pleased with the results, no issues here either.

Considering this for my MY2017 340 xDrive 6MT. I'm pretty much a complete novice as far as mods go in terms of hands on experience, but have done quite bit of reading up on here. Primarily like the Dinan over the JB+ due to the ability to quickly/disable boost levels. Seems like everyone is having positive results with this product. I don't drive aggressively enough to justify JB4/Elite cost.

Easy question: Will I, given my lack of experience with mods, be able to install the Dinan Sport myself? Or is this something I should drop by my indy mechanic to have him quickly hook up?

Thanks guys.

Go to the Dinan website and find the part, the installtion instructions are linked on the page. Take a look, see if this is something you could do.

Jb+ is a 30 second install literally, the difference is it's one plug compared to two in the Dinan sport. Once you find the location of the connectors it's an easy install the plugs snap in place.

I would also like to see the app improved in this manner. I'm assuming the tuner is always in the last setting I left it, but how would I know? It only shows me what mode I'm in when I make a change.

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the power increase of the tuner. I use Sport+ for driving at all times.

Has anyone else experienced a "chirping/squeaking" noise between up-shifts when accelerating hard? I notice it with the windows down sometimes. I've had several turbo cars and it doesn't sound like a BOV/DV. I thought it was my tires chirping at first, but I'm pretty sure it's not that.

Can anyone take two pictures of the place that the dinantronic sports goes? 340i

I tried installing mine (Based on the picture they provide on Dinan site, but didn't work. After getting a replacement, it still didn't work.

It keep showing the Drivetrain Malfunction warning light. (I first did the "put key fob away" method. After getting the replacement, I did the disconnecting battery method)

Contacted Nathan who has been helping me with all my question/issue and was told to clean the connector but didn't work out as well.

Hello Dinan,

What is different of this product vs. the JB+?
Does it work well with a 340i MPPSK, and if so, how much power can I expect?

Thank you.

The SPORT and JB+ are very similar. For the B58 application the differences amount to Dinan using bluetooth for adjustability instead of a physical dial and the SPORT utilizing 2 sensors instead of 1.

Works fine with MPPSK--- gains are ~+40HP/+50TRQ (crank).

Why is it that BMS is always upgrading and refining their product and Dinan simply sells their product and never really upgrades it based on either further internal refinement by Dinan or based on end user feedback?

I can't imagine you get is perfect right from the get go and feel it doesn't evolve?

I owned the Dinan Stage II tune on my e90. It was good but compared to the cont Buoys refinement of MHD I was always left wondering why.

Well this is a loaded question(s).

In reality there are quite a bit of updates that happen behind the scenes to fine tune our products. It happens more on the hardware side as of late as BMW seemingly has multiple variants of hard parts which have caused some issues but some examples on the software side of things are...

1. The N55 flash tunes start at stage 2 as stage 1 was dropped in response to customer feedback on the tune. While in reality they make the same peak power the stage 2 had a more aggressive low end torque kick instead of the gradual build up.
2. The current generation of DINANTRONICS has went through a lot of various revisions and updates although outside of 1 in the early going that increased power by 10-20HP most have been hardware firmware updates to make the platform as stable as we can as we learned new nuances of the BMW communications system. The current DME8 DINANTRONICS as a result of this constant tweaking has cut down on a lot of the random issues we were seeing at the outset.

In regards to the application of the thread we are currently in (the SPORT unit) there really isnt anything to update other then the app (which is being updated-- Android just released, iOS soon to follow). When you tie into a single sensor, or 2 in this case, you are pulling the levers of 2 values there isnt much to tweak down the line unless BMW changes the thresholds of acceptability.

SPORT unit comes with 4 settings:

Race: +4 PSI

Advertised gains are based on a stock car running 93 octane fuel on the Sport+ setting on the SPORT unit.

Just wondering if you are Nathan or Dan?

Dinantronic Issue.

Still waiting for either one of them to reply me back on what's going with the B58 DInantronic sports that I returned back for a new one.

The replacement I got from you guys are just seating there and I am kinda tired of waiting for a response.

It's the "Drivetrain Malfunction" warning light and no bluetooth connectivity issues on my 340i. (For both of the one i returned and also the replacement I got).
Dan said he will tried the one that I returned, on the 340i that you guys have at your company.
If I didn't get it wrong on the tracking, it should have reached your company on the August 14th, Monday.

Thanks.

thanks for your reply.

I fail to understand what part of my question(s) you felt were loaded????

I simply am asking why you would not continue to enhance the software of your tunes? What is loaded about that?

I have purchased your products in the past on previous cars and like your quality but have always been puzzled by this fact.

Make sense?
