A tune can't increase the turbo size or high pressure fuel pump capacity. So you are trading in safe timing and fueling for higher numbers.

So it seems the general consensus is to upgrade the HPFP and then get a custom tune running e85 (maybe e30?). Im pumped I found the ONLY gas station in Connecticut that has e85 and its .5 miles from my office(13 miles from home).

Minimum: IC + CP + DP + HPFP + custom tune Good quality 93 or ethanol mix. If your pump gas is low quality, you go to slightly higher E content. |

Thanks for the the input, in terms of the HPFP should I also get a upgraded LPFP as well? I noticed some really high LTFTS 29*, I'll try and get some logs up tomorrow

No, don't get a LPFP. It's unnecessary unless you are running PI and will likely just end up causing you problems with stock EKP, etc.

Hey all - hate to piggy back but don't want to start a new thread since I am also planning on getting a custom tune and wanted to make sure I had everything required to get the most from my vehicle. Currently I am running MHD Stage 2+ (VRSF CP, DP & FMIC, BMS Intake, one step colder plugs gapped to .020). Reading thru this thread, a HPFP upgrade makes sense, any recommendations on one? Not sure if one manufacture is better than the other. from what I've read. Was also thinking about upgrading the turbo inlet (recommendations? worth it?), adding the 3.5 BAR TMAP Sensor & PNP adapter (from Burger), and throw on some new coils (probably just stock OEM unless there are better ones out there). Thoughts? She's a 2014 435i RWD 6-speed.

Im not to sure about the 3.5 BAR TMAP Sensor that is another thing I was looking into myself so piggyback away my friend. As far as the ignition system I hear nothing but good things about precision raceworks coils. not to mention the last 2 items I mentioned go hand in hand with mhd. (it feels satisfying to me when I have to check off another option in the settings for MHD because I modified the car again and have to reflash) someone else with more knowledge will chime in but thats my 2 cents

MST V2 Hybrid inlet is the best option available for the stock turbo Precision Raceworks ig kit if you want to go that route. Stock coils are just fine as well. |

I run stock coils and many people do even on PS2 builds. I would say dont even replace existing ones (yet) unless you really want to throw money at it without testing first. The Dorch HPFP is flying off the shelf now, but has not been on the market as long as XDI, which was essentially the standard for a while. Have not ran either personally, but they both seem to work as advertised. Choose stage 1 or stage 2 depending on how much ethanol you plan to mix and/or if you ever want to go upgraded turbo. |
