Good replacement batteries

Hey y'all

So I passed 50k miles a few thousand back XD

Going to do my maintenance in a couple weeks when I have the time, dedicated a whole 4 or so days cause I gotta do some lower control arms as well

I still have the original battery in my car, 5/2014 and she's running strong! For my sake and peace of mind I thought I might as well swap it as I just don't want to deal with a bigger issue down the road

I already have bimmerlink and have been looking for good batteries, but can't seem to find many that have that 90-95 AH capacity and was wondering if someone could direct me to one?

I'll be in North Dallas so if anyone has local stores as well that would be greatly appreciated!

Before jumping to conclusions about Walmart/Everstart, they're made by Clarios, the world’s largest automotive battery manufacturer. The full replacement warranty is for four years, so it's not a risky purchase.

In the same boat and in the process of replacing my OEM 2014 battery. Im picking up an Interstate agm equivalent (95Ah/900CCA) hopefully today and then I'll get it installed and registered.

My understanding is the computer increments in 10Ah, so there shouldn't be any coding required for the difference in the 90Ah (OEM) and 95Ah (Interstate) and the new battery can simply be registered, but would appreciate if anyone could confirm.

I appreciate it, that looks definitely like a steal considering every other battery I've seen go 210+

Also, is this a code deposit as well? Did you have to take the old one back?

As for the warranty how does that work? Is it just if something goes wrong?

Ok yeah that makes sense. Well I wish you luck and let us know how it goes!

If your car has issues within the four year period and the battery is suspect, just bring it by one of the Walmart auto shops and let them test it. If the test shows the battery is bad, the policy says they'll replace it free of charge.

That's actually a really good warranty, most others I've dealt with will just apply a discount towards a new one on a prorated basis, the older the battery the less the discount.

Wow yeah I will definitely try taking advantage!

I hope I won't need it though since I was able to get this far with my last one but you never know!

If the manufacturer is confident enough to offer a four year full replacement warranty it's a safe bet that their testing has shown them to last on average at least five years.

Keep in mind that there is only a couple of actual battery manufacturers out there that just private label them.

That being said, we have a chain "Canadian Tire" that sells batteries that come with a 4-year warranty, but are obvious products that don't make the mfr's cut for minimum quality. I had a buddy that ended up swapping his out yearly on warranty which was a PITA pre-coding for battery times.

I'd check reviews on them. If the brand seems fine, just go for it.

The coding options in Bimmercode are 80, 90 and 105 Ah for AGM batteries.

I'm doing a replacement too and I'm going for the 95AH Energizer H8 AGM from Costco. Apparently is a really good battery and has a 100-month prorated warranty online. But in store, it said it was a 60-month replacement warranty with 100-month prorated.

Made by Johnson Controls, which is very high quality, hence the very generous warranty.

I haven't been able to find a battery that can remotely beat this one, warranty and all.

Johnson Controls battery division was bought by Brookfield and renamed Clarios in 2019.

I have a 10 year history with EverStart batteries in 4 different cars and I have yet to find one that lasts more than a year and a half. The good thing about them is I've never paid for a replacement because they always fail within the free replacement period.

I'm currently on an Autozone agm battery that I paid $180 for, and it's been great for the last 7 months so far.

Autozone's Duralast Platinum AGM batteries, along with DieHard and Ford Motorcraft, and many others, are made by Clarios as well. Some estimate that over half of the batteries sold in the US are made by Clarios, but not every brand admits who makes their batteries for them, so it's impossible to get an accurate count.

Either this changed recently or it is area specific. I just called a local Costco store in Miami FL to see if they had a replacement battery. I was surprised to find out they do but the warranty is only 3 years. Walmart and Autozone are similarly priced with longer warranties.
