Tacking on this thread my question as it is battery related. Anyway, I got ISTA running on my laptop and connected it to my car. During the connection process, I got a message stating that the battery voltage is below the threshold. Reading the battery charge history, it looks like the battery only charges to about 80%. I normally drive 40minutes each way for work so I think it should be enough time to charge the battery. The battery is the original one which would make it about 5 years old. Is it time for me to change the battery?

Since I didn't use my car for a long time during the pandemic, my car was out of battery, too. But somehow I knew the battery could be resurrected. Instead of paying ₺2400 for battery + ₺300 service fees at the BMW service, I paid only ₺100 to my fellow of battery master and had the 12V 90 Ah Varta battery charged like new. It's working like a charm right now.

Ok so I am going to ask an ignorant question…..(2015-F33)
-bought OEM battery b/c I get parts discounts due to my job -I have a SnapOn scan tool that has a section to register the battery -We are headed to the Mouse House (hours away) this weekend and I need to put the battery in tomorrow to be safe. What are the issues or malfunctions if I can’t get it registered by some dumb mishap? We also have an Airpro scanner which links up remotely using BMW OEM scan tools from a remote location and trained programmers as a last ditch |

The car increases the level of charge as the battery gets older, to compensate for its reduced ability to hold charge. If you don't tell the car that you have a new battery by registering it the car will continue to charge it as if it was old, reducing the life of the new battery.

Hi - I'm looking to replace the OEM car battery on my 2015 335D
The Original BM battery is 90Ah and 900CCA - the closest equivalent I can find is the Bosch AGM 019 Car Battery - S5 A13, or the EXIDE EK950 019AGM, both of which are 95AH but only 850CCA. Will the 850CCA be sufficient for a 335D - anyone replaced their OEM with a different car battery ? Comments/advice appreciated as both of these are approx £100 cheaper than OEM BMW batter at £233 and that's before fitting - which I'm looking to do myself. |

Hey guys, so my CEL came on a few days ago. I don't have a scanner tool but started looking into getting one the next day. It's been on a few days now as I haven't been driving much but yesterday on the way home I finally got a low battery warning on the screen come up. My car is a 2013 f30 and its the original battery. I've heard about coding or registering a battery my question is if I install a new battery without registering it, it will still start correct? I don't see how the car would 'know' I have a new battery installed? The charging makes sense, I just wanted to check and make sure. Someone on here said most auto parts stores will register the battery for you or have a scanner tool a guy could borrow? Thanks!

Before fixing something make sure it's broken. Scan first to find out what that may be. Even if it is a low charge warning that doesn't necessarily mean that the battery needs replacing. It could be a parasitic drain issue.
Scan tools are not optional, they're a must have. |
