328d Wagon trailer hitch
On my way to my new to me 2014 328d wagon I sold my Tacoma and gave my son my old suv so I thought I needed to do something to recover a little lost utility. I decided to add a hitch to the wagon. It seems there are only two choices, the Curt for a little over $100, or the Invisihitch which is quite a bit more. Being limited to 2000 lbs doesn't seem like a problem so I chose the Curt. Today I did the install. It's pretty easy. There is a good how to video here:
Some observations. These may only apply to the diesel wagon. In the video he has you lower the muffler and remove the heat shield. Just skip this. Neither of these steps were necessary for me. I don't have comfort access so some of the wiring in the vid wasn't there for me. The bumper cover is really light but a helper is still useful when removing and installing. There are some alignment issues between the bumper cover and the splash shield just behind the wheel. It easy to miss and things won't line up. I still have to do the lighting. Waiting on an adapter coming tomorrow. The hitch looks good and seems like a quality piece. |
