Smile Carly for BMW Pro Coding Stop/Start OFF

Stop/Start was annoying me so a few minutes with my Carly for BMW Pro Android app and the Carly adapter quickly sorted it. Now, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ driving modes commence with Stop/Start OFF. I left Eco-Pro mode with Stop/Start ON as the default.

Yes, if I want to turn Stop/Start ON in the first three modes mentioned, I just click the button above START.

The Android Smartphone or Tablet connect to the Carly Adapter via Bluetooth.

6NK is for car without Telematics. If car has Telematics, you need to be using 6NL instead.

Now you need to inject CAFD into ECU and VO Code it to fix it:

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on desired HU_ENTRY => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level shown => Select OK => Right-Click on HU_ENTRY (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Should I download that missing CAFD file from web or this file should be in my data-CAF files ?

Car updated

Hey Shawn I took my car to the dealer and they updated the software on my car. When I went to reprogram the car there are several errors of missing cadf files when i read the coding data. Do I need a newer version of the programming software? My ecu is currently at f10-16-11-503. Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks

It's not all that important which one. The instruction was to "Select the CAFD from latest I-Level shown". If that is not obvious from the list, it is one at bottom.

Right now, you are lucky you have anything at all. Until CAFD is injected and Head Unit encoded, don't worry about limited functionality.

Can you elaborate with what you are confused?

There are two types of coding:
  • VO Coding: Reset vehicle to factory values or Add/Remove factory options, by coding 100% of the ECU to predetermined settings based on the FA (AKA Vehicle Order), avoiding manually changing multiple FDL’s.
    • Process: Connect → Read (if desired FA written to VCM) or Load Modified FA (VO) & Activate → Read SVT (VCM) → Right-Click ECU (folder ≠ CAFD below) → Select CODE
  • FDL Coding: Manually customize parameters beyond settings limited by vehicle production or factory options.
    • Process: Connect → Read FA (VO) → Activate FA (VO) → Read SVT (VCM) → Right-Click blue CAFD → Select Read Coding Data → Expand CAFD Folder “+” symbol → Right-Click orange CAFD & Select Edit (jumps to FDL-Editor) → Edit CAFD as desired → Save CAFD Changes → Back to Expert Mode > Coding → Right-Click Orange CAFD → Select CODE FDL
      • Two ways to Edit: 1) manually changing drop-down menus or werte values or 2) using Launcher Cheat Codes.
      • “Offline Coding” utilizes same FDL-editor, but you manually load NCD into FDL-Editor. Then, when ready to apply, re-connect > R-click blue CAFD > select NEW FDL & load modified NCD > proceed as above with orange CAFD
Ways to Corrupt ECU's: disrupted communication between vehicle & computer during coding (ie after select "CODE FDL" or "Code"):
  • Vehicle shutdowns because battery voltage is not maintained. Avoid by running engine or using external PSU
    • It is fine to run engine and right click SVT folder > select "Reading Coding Data" to pull entire vehicle files. DO NOT select "CODE," unless using external vehicle power source. You cannot VO code engine DME/DDE ECU with engine running.
  • Lose or low quality cable / adapter
  • Computer shuts down due to loss of battery
Additionally, NEVER Select CODE DEFAULT VALUES. It actually refers to an “Initial [unprocessed] State,” which is not equal to “factory values.”

Yes; among other things, E-sys can both FDL-/VO-code (with lite Psdzdata) and program (ie flash update software/firmware with full Psdzdata) any Fxx-/Ixx-/Gxx-series, Mini, or Rolls-Royce.

From same section, Expert Mode > Coding, "Code" is used for VO-coding and "Code FDL" is used for FDL-coding.

Not sure which PDF is confusing. Here is two helpful links:
