TPMS forces Comfort mode

Was at WGI this week. Running Goodyear Eagle Supercar tires. Trying to keep them around 35PSI hot. Between sessions or after lunch cold pressure is around 25-26 PSI. I get low tire pressure warning and message saying do not drive over 80 mph. After I disable traction control and start to drive the car it switches back to comfort mode. Anyone else have this issue or a solution.

Known behavior. You have to make the TPMS happy.

There’s two fail modes - one with the 80mph, which lets you still use Sport etc, and the second level that forces Comfort (and under 50 mph, iirc). It requires Resets to get back out…

Maybe try setting your TPMS when tires are at 30, so hot or cold don’t trigger?

I’ve run into this auto-crossing when I bleed pressure down from my street setting. Solution is just reset once I set my race pressure.

Does TPMS have a high pressure trigger, or just low? If it doesn’t trigger off a high pressure the obvious solution is reset at the cold pressure, before you take off.

Otherwise, yeah, probably need to find a good middle-ground pressure to reset at.

Thanks. I did reset when cold but TPMS still thought the pressure was too low. I drove a couple laps in comfort and then went into pit lane and reset. That worked but that is a PIA.

Ah, yeah. Looks like the system checks for a minimum pressure of 1.85 bar (26.832 psi)
