Cold start up issue ( attached video )
hello ,
I have a random issue ( it doesn't happen each cold start up ). when hot , start up is normal. Car: 2104 435i N55 Issue: sometimes it seems engine is going to stall when starting up. Codes: no codes found. outside temp : 4ºC to 18ºC other symptoms: none. car has 89000km and the only mod done is an ER charge pipe. video: https://gofile.io/?c=Q8DmHY at 4s is when idle goes down and ECU wants to correct it. any ideas? many thanks. |

How old is your battery?
I also have a 2014 435i and during this past "cold" months we had in FL I experienced longer delays to start up and once I replaced the battery all was right again!

My battery is 5.5 years old. in my case it is not a delay when starting up, it is like it is going to stall. will keep a look at the battery. is there any way to know how much charge can it hold now? |

I'm located in Florida so our winter deft wasn't as cold as Yours LOL. BUT, on a few very cold morning when the temp was 40-50 my car started up very weird. Only on those day's. After the cold passed by my car was fine. My battery is a year old. My intake inlet just recently cracked so it makes me wonder if they inlet was on its way out and was already causing issues before hand. As well as sometimes when I would drive I would almost get like a knock or hesitation on WOT.
Again not sure if this is it, but does make me wonder if they were some how linked

Check you EKP module and make sure it's in good working order.

If the battery is weak on startup, like it's struggling to crank that would be indicative of a bad battery and time for a replacement. Some auto stores have courtesy batter testers, you could also just buy your own for a nominal fee. I'm not 100% convinced your problem is the battery. With a stock vehicle, there are many things it can actually be. It could be spark plugs, fuel pump, injectors or something else to name few.

I had the same issue and mentioned it at the dealer before I had some Dinan work done on my 435. The said it just needed a software update, haven't had an issue since.
