First Time Bmw Buyer
Whats up guys so I need some advice. I want a 2014 Bmw 335i went to look at one today https://www.hgreg.com/used-car/bmw-3...-for-sale-1255.
My FIRST question is will it be possible to get a payment less than $700 for insurance and the car payment combined? (I'm 21 so prob not right) LAST question is a BMW really "expensive to own/maintain" I hear storys how BMW charges this and that much but what If I were to take it to local mechanic shops? I plan to put down 4-5k down on the car. |

Alot of guys put tunes and mods on their car on lease stressing out the engine.
3 years later off lease you dont know if you have a ticking timebomb $$$. So I would expect the worst and definitely have a warranty like the BMW certified pre-owned gives. The parts are expensive even if somehow you can save alot on labor.. which is doubtful. Be careful |

At the very least, if you are serious about this vehicle a full inspection prior to purchase is a must. Your local BMW dealer can also examine all prior service history. Gaps in scheduled maintenance are a a concern. Personally, unless the vehicle is a used BMW with CPO warranty, no accidents, and verifiable service history I would not consider buying it.

If you want to own your first BMW go with a Certified Preowned (CPO) directly from BMW. They are usually lease returns which are 3 years old and have less than 36,000 miles. The BMW CPO warranty is excellent and mitigates the risk.

I say skip the BMW and buy something more economical, reliable, and cheaper to maintain. You're 21, so save your money! I know it's not what you want to hear...sorry

If you're 21 and strapped for money I would not recommend you get a relatively new BMW. They're expensive to purchase and the depreciation factor will kill you if you were planning to resell it. A warranty would be a pretty penny as well my external full warranty 3year/75,000 was about 3-4K. If you cannot afford that then I think you should stick to possibly a Japanese luxury vehicle for the reliability and cost of parts. I was about to buy the Q50S. That's a really good alternative.

OP, I was in your shoes three years ago. I was just out of college and really wanted my first car to be a bimmer. I highly recommend playing it safe by getting a CPO car or a used car still under original warranty. That way pretty much all the defects, if any, that crop up in the near future are covered at no cost to you.
As far as payments and finances go, - see if you are eligible for the new grad program which gets you $1500 off CPO cars. - insurance is pretty easy to estimate. Just go on Geico and get a quote. The premium's high when you're young like 21 and also depends on when you first got your license. I got it at 16, but my roommate got it at 20. And our premiums were $100 a month apart. Make sure to fill out alumni association and job type etc. I can guarantee you, those things bring down your premium. - BMW FS let's you pay up to 5k using a credit card. Use that on a CC with high cash back or bonus if financing from BMW FS. May not be the case here since it's not a BMW dealer. - Try to negotiate prices over email. I was never able to get even a dime off used cars in person at the time. But shopping used car vs. new cars at the dealer has always been tough anyway. The car you listed is a great spec actually. It was produced in Nov'13, so assuming it was delivered early 2014 the original warranty of 4yr/50k which I think was the case for 2014 vehicles(please check on this), it should be in warranty till 2018 which is great, and BMW should even let you extend it. This car should be around $500-$600 for 60mo finance depending on your credit. Last edited by fivemegabytes; 05-30-2017 at 07:12 AM.. Reason: add warning |

Wow really I didn't even know that I should really be using carfax. Lol but as I'm not really tight on money but just need a car for now to drive because I plan to get my own apartment soon within the year. SO I may just lease a new BMW depending on the monthly payment if anything I will fall back and wait and just lease a lexus.

If you dont mind a car with a history you're better off buying a rebuilt title 335i but with no previous frame damage for around 15-16k and pocketing the rest for a rainy day. |
