What is wrong with this invoice price calculation

The dealer says when he puts the order into the system the invoice price comes in at $932 more than this but cannot see a breakdown to determine where that extra cost is.

I used 94% of base, 92% of parts, and invoice cost of accessories.

MSRP Invoice
440i x-drive gran coupe $ 50,500 $ 47,470
Tanzanite Blue Metallic $ 1,950 $ 1,794 X10
Golden Brown Ext. Merino Leather $ 3,750 $ 3,450 ZAG8
Dark Red Sycamore Wood trim $ 1,080 $ 994 XE5
PREMIUM PACKAGE $ 2,000 $ 1,840 ZL1
M SPORT PACKAGE $ 2,550 $ 2,346 ZMP
Adaptive M Suspension $ 700 $ 644 2VF
19" M Ferric Grey DoubleSpoke Wheels Style 704 M with Mixed Performance Tires (19x8.0, 255/40 R19 front and 19x8.5, 255/35 R19 rear) $ 900 $ 828 21Z
EXECUTIVE PACKAGE $ 2,100 $ 1,932 ZPX
OPTIONS
Active Cruise Control $ 1,200 $ 1,104 5DF
Heated Steering Wheel $ 190 $ 175 248
Heated Rear Seats $ 350 $ 322 496
Active Blind Spot Detection $ 500 $ 460 5AG
Active Driving Assistant $ 500 $ 460 5AS

ACCESSORIES
M Performance Power & Sound $ 3,195 $ 2,515 Z11
Black Kidney Grilles $ 230 $ 170 Z06
Stainless steel MPPSK exhaust tips $ 300 $ 190 Z1T

Destination & Handling $ 995 $ 995

"In 2016 the difference in price between MSRP and invoice was 8 percent for the vehicle and 9 percent for options and packages. For 2017 the discount between MSRP and invoice is 7 percent for the vehicle and options and packages being 8 percent."

I've used .93/.92 myself on a recent order and gotten within $5 of the invoice given to me by another dealer so it seems accurate. But that adjustment from your .94/.92 leads you in the opposite direction from the what your dealer is quoting you so I'm guessing the accessories are way off. I would remove the accessories, recalculate your invoice price, and ask him what he sees.

Honestly tell him to just print out the build with the invoice amounts. If he is a transparent CA he will. Compare line by line and you will be able to find the difference.

He refused. When I asked for the price without the accessories he said there was too much back and forth. There wasn't, just him changing prices on me.

He is a board member who offered to help out other board members so I was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I ended up getting a much better deal with a different dealer which I will post once it is all signed and confirmed.

Holy smokes! You are ordering the exact car (except X Drive) that I'm spec'ing out - TZ Blue over Individual Golden Brown w/ Dark Sycamore wood! Lol! That's awsome....PLEASE post pics when you get it. It will push me over the edge!

One thing I noticed in your break down is the listing of heated seats and steering wheel as separate options, aren't they part of the Exce or Prem Pkg already? Also, maybe I'm missing it but are you not doing Track Handling Pkg? That would give you the adaptive suspension, 19" wheels, and the M Sport brakes together for not much more.

Again, totally with you on this. I prefer cars that are fully loaded, especially with Individual options, than a car one up the rung that is a base model.

I've caught some flack from folks because I want to spec a car almost identical to the one you have and they scream, 'just buy an M3 it's less money!'. Sure, it may be a tiny bit less base price but the M3 I would want is nearing $90K with the same options, ZCP, carbon ceramic brakes, etc. Not to stir up the 3/4 series vs M3/4, but the true M cars seem to be overkill for me and my lifestyle (which does include a BMC CCA HPDE or two a year).

I have an M and am sick of it. I have a 1 year old daughter and am regularly stuck in NYC traffic. I'll gladly trade the laser focus for some comfort and utility. Having said that I'm not ready to give up my M and maybe I'll keep it as a track car. I'll make that decision after I receive my 440.

I feel I am getting the exact car I want, its not in any way a compromise. I expect it will suit my needs to a T.

The reason I'm not getting track handling is because:
- I get the adaptive suspension and 19" wheels as an option with the M-Sport
- The blue brakes are reported to be squeeky. They look great but dont stop any faster, they just resist fading which is a more useful on a track then on everyday driving where you are not continually slamming on the brakes.
- A really want the adaptive cruise control for boring traffic driving and that is not compatible with the track pack.

2018 model removed the winter pack and made all the heating optional.

Look at my thread history and you will see pictures of a car a ordered and cancelled that is Tanzanite/Golden/Sycamore. Interior looks amazing!

I also spotted a tanzanite 435 gran coupe today and followed the person until they parked. I think I scared em a little but I had to confirm with them that it was tanzanite as I never seen one outside of a dealership. Seemed much darker than the M3 & M5 I have seen but I think its because she hadn't washed it recently. Still looked special and beautiful.

I have another thread somewhere that outlines my final deal which ended up being with Freehold in NJ. I got the sale price down to $64K on a MSRP of $73K and got the money factor down to 0.00077 which works out to $775/month for 10,000 miles a year + nothing down + 7 months security deposit.

Thats an amazing deal, looks to moderate amount under invoice congrats. MSD are gone as I understand it but that money factor reduction is amazing.
