You're rears must be slightly tucking right? Do you think you could've gotten away with the 265s if you adjusted the camber?
Did you keep the 235/35/19 fronts? With the smaller diameter, do you probably have a more noticeable gap compared to the rears? |

Very happy with Michelin PSS definitely worth the extra cost over Hankook tires. |

265/35 if not lowered, 265/30 if lowered. Fronts 245/35 should be good with or without lowering but 235/35 to be safe. Thats on 8.5 with et35 fronts and 9.5 et 38 rears

Reason they rub is cause you have a too low offset with a wheel that´s too wide. 265/35 tire isn´t the problem here. Standard ET on 8.5" wheel is around 45, so if you would have at least stuck to above 40 on the offset with a 9.5" wheel, you should have been in the clear.
edit: AND you´re lowered, double fail :/ but it looks good though!

Well TBH I wouldn´t have tried fitting that wheel myself knowing what the standard width and ET should be, with a tall tyre. Simple mathematics but it´s not always easy to see things clearly, especially not when u really WANT something to work

Here's a pat on the back bud . I'm sure there were some people that are thankful for me being the guinea pig. H&R sport would work. Hankooks would work as well.

Hi guys. What a bad way to revive this thread. I know most of you guys own 3 series and I'm here own 1 series. My car is not lower, completely stock suspension (standard sport suspension for sport pack).
I have few questions about tires setup. So, I'm planning to buy 19" wheels with et40 front (stock one et45) and et44 rear (stock is et52). I know, I'm pushing myself for too low offset but using the right tires I will be fine. Rolling diameter for 1 series is more or less 25". The vendor recommends me to use this setup to avoid rubbing: 225/35/19 front=25.2" 245/30/19 rear=24.8" But the problem is the same with OP, on that setup, tires that available are Yokohama S. Drive and Advan. I'm planning to go with other route which is using same profile for both front and rear to get better tires, such as Michelin PSS, Conti DW, and Hankook. My second setup (by myself) is: 225/35/19 front=25.2" 245/35/19 rear=25.8" Do you guys think I will have problem for this one? I know I might go 255/30/19 (rear=25.1") to get better options for tires but because I'm using lower offset, I might rub and most likely will by using 255. Please help me out guys. Comments and solutions are highly appreciated. Thanks

Just plug in your stock tire size and your proposed tire size to compare:
http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php It's not just tire dimension and fender clearance. Consider the effects on the speedometer reading. With larger tires, you would be going faster than the speedo would tell you. The calculator tells you what you're getting into. |

Look into adding a little negative camber. I am running 20x10.5 on the rear and it was rubbing a little so we added a little bit of neg camber to a total of 3 degrees and no more rubbing and after 7k miles my tires are wearing even.
Opps didnt look at the date of the post. A little late to the party...lol |

Very cool, thank you for that one. Great stats for comparison. Do you know how many times I did that manually. I always knew approx what Plus 1, 2, etc would be but still wanted to be sure. This is a real time saver.

I recently downgraded Rims from 19 VMR v701s to 18 OEM Syle 197's to increase ride comfort and am looking to get thicker tires to further increase ride comfort.
Currently I have Style 197 OEM 18 Rims with the following setup: FRONT: 18x8.0 ET34 225/40/18 REAR: 18x8.5 ET37 255/35/18 Is it ok to go with the following: REAR: 18x8.5 ET37 255/40/18 or 255/45/18 or 255/50/18? will the rim size 8.5 handle even wider? 265? thanks! 265/45-18 would also fit on the wheel, but I would be more concerned about rubbing. That tire is more than 5% taller than OEM. |

so a 265 would work, but only w 40 width? the width is just a percentage of the tire right ? so a 265/45 is bigger than a 255/45 and a 255/40 is bigger than a 245/40? |

The first number, ie 245, 255, is the tire width in mm. The second number, ie 40, 45, is the tire side wall height in percentage of tire width.
But as you mentioned 265/45 will be both wider and higher than 255/45. 265/40 will be wider but shorter than 255/45 for example. 265/40 wouldn't work since it has 9" wheel as lowest recommendation (lower tire profiles requires wider wheels for same tire width). 255/45-18 would be your best rear tire choice, and maybe upgrade the front tire to 245/45-18 on the 8" wide front wheel. |

I was thinking 19s on M sport suspension and i decided to go 245/35/19 and 265/35/19 since i don't plan on dropping it.....i think the rims are 8.5 and 10.0.

Have a quick question that I've been befuddled about, would 255's on a 10.5 inch rim look too much of a stretch look? Found a set of wheels that I'm considering and their 19x9 et35 and 19x10.5 et40. Was thinking of 235's in the front and 255's in the rear so it won't rub or anything.
