I read the link posted above and I was going to get those plugs. Someone said (in another post) being that I am running a JB Stage 1 tune, that the oem plugs were fine due to my tune not being that aggressive. Not sure which plugs I should go with at this point.

I haven't had issues with my car on the stock plugs until I added the FMIC. I was running JB4 though not the JB stage 1

If you're not running 17lbs and higher boost...and/or using E85, stay with OEM plugs

It is also an issue with all PWG cars, EWG don't 99% of time have any issues

Yeah I was told PWG cars are VERY hard to tune

Do you guys have had any experience with custom BM3 tuners? How does it work? Can they work on logs taken while WOT on open roads or does it require a Dyno? I'm seriously considering someone professional to take care about my car but just didn't read a whole lot about capable tuners and their references.

Cheers!

It just requires different thought processes and more fine grain tuning. PWG definitely isn't a one size fits all in terms of tuning. EWG car much easier to dial in boost control however

Throw in an aftermarket turbo or different flow characteristics and it gets tougher.

There are a few tricks though.

Absolutely. Logs while WOT on open roads are sometimes more beneficial then your average dyno session. Dyno's simulate load differently ( unless on a eddy current, or load cell dyno ) than running on the road.

Healthy coils and OEM plugs are more than sufficient

UPDATE: Sorry I have been away. My phone has been being lame and not showing me notes. However, Dzenan and the PTF team pulled through and for whatever reason I had a remote session on my computer and everything ended up working out well. Now I need to do Plugs and gap them correctly and I should have a better baseline for where to go next. I will probably end up getting a custom map made for a little more aggressive tune. Gotta break in that new OEM turbo somehow right?

May be eluding to the higher number of pwg guys who have had issues with the ots stage 2 map compared to ewg guys. Seems the pwg is more complicated to dial in properly and optimize via tuning hence why a higher number of pwg owners may be pursuing a custom tune because they are experiencing issues with ots (such as low rpm shudder/stumble, misfires, overboosting and throttle closures, knock and super knock).

That being said... ots maps are exactly that - off the shelf and are not necessarily one size fits all since octane quality varies everywhere, vehicle maintenance varies, mods vary, altitude, etc.

So hard for me to understand these issues with stock plugs. I ran +20psi with methanol on mine - stock plugs with stock gap. This has almost turned religious hahaha

17.4psi @ 5000rpm and tapering down after, stock bmw OEM plugs with stock gap, no misfires.
