Wow, that's BS. You sure you were pulled over by a real cop? No cop's handwriting is as perfect as that.

I believe you can either just pay the fine or go to the ref then ask for dismissal from a judge. Last time I swapped the stock exhaust, got the ref certificate, presented it to the judge (might have implied that was the only exhaust that was ever on the car), and ticket was dismissed.

OK if the exhaust isn't correctable then why fix it? This new law and ticket doesn't make sense OMG lol
I have a catted down-pipe + the MPE and it does not come with a valve like the oem exhaust. Everyone knows how stupid and loud the BMW cold start is even when the car is warm it still goes through the 'cold start' process so how can i get away with this LOL i just installed my front tow hook plate holder so my local authorities don't find a reason to pull me over. For the most part i drive in comfort mode and some times eco, but i think the killer part is if they ask you to start up your car and automatically that cold start will trigger them to writing a citation.

Heard from your buddy that your exhaust makes my set-up seem tame.. I can only imagine what that cold start must be like

Honestly though, I do a lot of freeway and city driving between LA/Huntington/NoHo and so far I've managed to lay low. You should be alright as long as you play your cards right. Plus MPE is technically an OEM part and I couldn't imagine an officer would know you're running a catted DP, especially since it still is catted after all.

I'm surprised this thread has been so quiet. With all the fervor of the first few pages you'd think we'd all have multiple tickets by now.

atranho I may have missed it but what kind of exhaust setup were you running?

The page is quiet cause all the idiots here realized it's not a $1000 exhaust fine and basically nothing has changed, you pay the $200 fee and if you get ref'd you get it signed off by the station and then pay the fine.

For every loud BMW on the road, there's at least 5 loud 350zs and 10 loud Civics, plus all the idiots doing the takeovers. I'm sure they've got more $200 tickets to hand out than they do time

I've had quite a few looks/stares with my Eisenmann race setup. As said though, luckily driving a bimmer is a little less suspicious/attention grabbing than some of the muscle/jdm tuner cars. I definitely make sure to upshift or coast when going by.

Feels like this is going to be exactly like the BT/texting laws. No real enforcement so people won't care anymore.
