Door cards disassembly
Hi everyone - I could buy door cards from a F80 - 30 Jahre edition - the left front one is slightly damaged and needs repair. My idea is to buy a normal door card and change the leather inlays and inner door handles, etc, but it looks like that the whole stuff is melted into the door card . . . .any ideas?

Yes, most of the parts are attached with plastic rivets that are melted over on the inside. They can be removed, but it's a very time consuming process. Installing new parts is easy enough, as they have the plastic rivets in place, you only need to melt them when the part is installed. Re-installing old parts would be difficult, as the rivets were removed when taking them off.

well, I will find out very soon now . . . . .I ve bought the set.
Also includes a full set of blinds for the rear doors. Here are some pictures from the seller: First one is the damaged passenger door card (I'm in Australia, the M3 was RHD) I ve also found a set of OEM clamps and screws to re attach the ambient light strip - the only real concern is the leather trim in the middle and top - I may have to bring it to an upholsterer. All other parts can be re fitted (in theory:-)) I mainly require No.11, 18 & 13 to fit the arm rest and ambient light strip. Last edited by alexonahurry; 05-31-2021 at 09:03 PM.. |

Haven't done it. I have repaired the damaged door card and it's looking like nothing ever happened. I had the extended leather option and I think it would be impossible to remove the leather from the top (incl. the trim) but the arm wrest should be not a problem. looks like it's melted together with one of the door panel clip holders. Hard to say
