nicest exhaust set up?
im planning on buying a b58 in about a month and going from an n55 its going to be a nice jump in power, buttttt. The sound of the n55 is just so nice and I was wondering if any exhaust set ups have that same nice deep tone not matching the n55 sound but having that same deep tone.

The B58 sounds just as good as the N54/55. It's the S engines that sound like weed whackers.

Most people on here will recommend the MPPSK as the best sounding exhaust for the B58. Still valved (dual valves) so fairly stock/quiet when valves are closed, but open valves is pretty much straight pipe from the cat back. It would be #1 on my list. Only downside is price...

No matter the exhaust, the B58 has a pretty deep tone so whichever route you go the tone will remain but the pitch and sound will vary on which exhaust setup you go with. With a stock exhaust, the B58 is quite tame so it just needs to be opened up. The deep tone is there, just muffled.

Due to dual turbo choice and fitment, the S engine variants sound vastly different and the deep tone in the non-S motors is swapped for higher pitch rasp. Those S motors with a non-S manifold (B58, N55) would sound pretty similar to a non-S engine, to some perhaps better. I will say the B58 does have a different sound apart from all the other engines since it’s engine design is different from every other inline 6 BMW engine and almost every other BMW engine out there.

i think remus sounds better than MPPSK, but both sound good overall. i was really impressed by the remus exhaust in person, i think their split-pipe mid section design makes a big difference to exhaust tone.

I believe valvetronic also makes a full stainless or full titanium valved exhaust as well that sounds pretty good.

They offer a stainless axle back. You can pay more money for a custom cat back but not sure about cost it's considered a custom job. The axle back sounds really good considering it's not a full cat back. It's a pretty good option if you're not looking to drop $2k to $4k on an exhaust.

Stock exhaust is single valve, MPPSK is dual valve.

I ignore sound clips which can’t possibly record and then reproduce on a phone speaker. I like to go to car shows and C&C’s to hear exhausts live. AWE is the best that I’ve heard. A full deep sound befitting a fine European sports sedan.

The CG precision catted pipe is a nice sound upgrade. Not loud or offensive at all just a nice increase over stock. I'm going to stick with just that and the stock exhaust.
Otherwise I would maybe look at the akropovic exhaust I've always thought it sounds excellent in the clips. Paired with the CG pipe or similar, akropovic also makes a downpipe but it's super expensive. If I were to get a full exhaust it'd probably be that one |
