OTA Map Updates issue?

Hi to all,

I tried to search around, but couldn't find an updated thread.

I purchased a CPO 2016 340i back in march with 7k miles on it. I'm under the impression that I have OTA updates as I can see it that it has the 2016 when I check in the IDrive. I've change the locations (on the ConnectedDrive website) for the update to 12(Virginia,DC and other,) to 13(Maryland, and up,) It's June 22nd and I still haven't received any OTAs for 2017.

Does anyone else have had this issue with the Maps not updating OTA? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue. 2016 328 with pro nav. Current version of maps is from 2015. I have connected drive active. Is there a way to force the map to download?

Can I do that having OTA updates? If so, can you point in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Yes. USB uploads all of NA. OTA just updates designated region (1 of 13).

How does one "download" maps onto USB in the US for nbt evo?

Join enthusiast websites and make contacts where you can download for free. Files are just downloaded and extracted onto 32+ GB, FAT32 formatted flash drive.

I just finally got an OTA update. It was fairly quick and just came out of the blue. Now I have 2016-2, i'm kinda bumped out as we're in July 2017, question, will I eventually get an OTA update for the 2017s maps? I'm kinda confused and don't know if I should spend the money to get an update when, essentially, I have free OTAs.

Your guess is as good as mine whether and when you will get 2017.
  • I have seen 2017-1 natively installed on (March) systems and available for download.
  • I have also seen 2016-4 and other OTA.
  • I only have a list of latest complete system updates. I know what constitutes the 13 regions, but not sure how regional updates are pushed (ie does one region get 2016-2 & another 2016-4, etc?).

Thanks for the reply, can I download the 2017 maps into an usb drive and install it into the car without a FSC code? I saw in other thread something in those lines...

Yes. Depending on year of car, you will have 2-4 years of FSC's pre-loaded.

My 2016's (F010/F015) got updated from Next 2015-2 to 2017-2 (which each step in between) without ever entered FSC. That was not the case for My '13 BMW's.

If you are getting OTA (or should), I would assume preloaded as well. But, only way to know for sure is to pull info from car.

I get most of my stuff from Cartech.

I purchased the flash drive, downloaded what I believe is the North America 2017, I downloaded it to the drive then proceeded to inserted it into the car. The car recognized that there's something in the usb port, but nothing else, the car didn't even budged. Don't know what i'm doing wrong.

Maps are region (eg North America, Europe, etc) & head unit (eg Next for NBT, Evo for NBT2, etc) specific.

Contents (numbered folders plus configuration files) also must be extracted and placed in root directory of fat32 formatted flash drive. If using Mac, you must use secondary program to delete hidden directories/files.

Once done right, plugging in will result in popup prompt on CID that newer version recognized and ask if you wish to update.

I give up, I've downloaded the maps, waited it for it to download and then transfer it to the drive to no avail. I'm just going to roll with the OTA updates.

That is an option.

OTA updates - Apparently not available

After a few weeks of frustration, calls to connected drive (not a clue) Discussion with my dealer, I finally found the page within the connected drive store, it appears that the OTA updates are not available in the UK, or at least I couldn't select the UK one, all other regions were available
