From my experience, I lost all my coding because they had to recode the entire vehicle due to a failure on the first try to program it.

Ideally it would only be a loss of coding to CMB_MEDIA.

Also and update: I lost the function of remote features from the BMW iphone app to unlock, lock, etc. Also the google search in maps is greyed out.

This should not have happened however, spoke to BMW Genius and they said they'll get back to me on how to fix the issue.

While I am waiting for the parts to come in so my car can be retrofitted I spoke with BMW Genius. She did some research and found out that the new comm box is 4G, but she said it will still act the same a 2G box. I'm assuming that that means it just won't add any new tech features but will connect/communicate faster.

I lost inactive passenger seat belt chime, M logo on dash and unlock on stop so now I have to double pull the door locks. I kept weather band radio, tire temperature, no bulb checks, no warning disclaimer on startup. I've restored some but still haven't done the seat belt or unlock on stop.

My initial coding was done by someone else. Now I'm doing it myself with Carly but since the software update I don't have access to FEM and ASCM. Carly says it could be months until they update to support the new firmware.

What PSdZData set are you running when coding? Shawn sent me a link for version 59.5, I haven't had a chance to recode yet but I am hoping this version in updated enough to access to all the ECUs.

I am coding with Carly Pro for BMW so am not using PSdZData

I can confirm that with Esys using dataset version 59.5, all ECUs are readable apart from HC2, which I got an error for.

The I-STEP that the vehicle has been updated to is F020-16-07-507

For those of you that have had retrofit completed already, did any of you have a BimmerTech backup camera (OEM integration specifically) installed? If so was there any issue?

Will find out this weekend... I actually had the BimmerTech camera installed last week in my E92 M3... figures I'll go in this weekend and probably lose my camera coding.

The BMW assist offer is not offered in Canada. We too are shutting down out 2G cell service, but BMW does not seem to care. Nice, eh!

I went with the Bimmertech OEM integration kit, which is awesome. It takes the same amount of time for the reverse camera + PDC display to come up as it did when I just had PDC.

I had to reschedule my appointment to next weekend, so we'll find out how much coding I will lose.

So I dropped my car to a local dealership to do the retrofit.
They have kept my car for 3 days and just told me that they cannot release the car until BMW NA activate the new comm box. :/ Not sure why it's taking them so long...

I just got my car back, doesn't seem to have lost anything except for existing bt connections. The new combox also intermittently works with myinfo and remote service.

I need to verify something. I currently have a BMW Assist contract through Dec 2018. My SA says if I go with the retrofit option it does not continue my service and I must pay $199/year to continue service. Is this true?

My understanding is you should be covered until your expiration date. BMW Assist customer service told me I would receive a renewal email two months before expiration.

The coding/non-original parts conflicting makes me wonder if I should go with the retrofit or not, given how much extra coding and parts I've added from all my other retrofits... I do like the concept of SOS if it is needed, but really don't use any of the other web-based features
