Pretty sure he means he purchased the oil from there and did the change himself.

Walmart has the cheapest oil compared to any auto parts store.

Walmart sells LL-01 oils. The one I use is Castrol EDGE 0w-40 Euro formula. They're all between $25-$30 for 5 quarts.

I would definitely only use an LL-01 oil. You're probably right that it doesn't matter much if you keep your OCIs low, but it's not worth the potential risk of issues or warranty invalidation because you used the wrong oil. Cost is obviously not an issue if you have access to Amazon or Walmart.

I have looked into FCP Euro, I'm definitely going to hit them up for windshield wipers and other basic consumables. But like I said in the post, I don't do my own fluids. :-)

my dealer has a special at $79.99 going on. It's not much more than that normal price which is a good thing since my warranty and maintenance program is done and out in 2 months lol

Quick update: I went in for an oil change yesterday. My dealer only charged $89.95, and they currently have a deal for a $25 rebate. A $65 oil change is definitely worth making the trip in. I went into a local mall and shopped while they did it... much better than doing it myself.

Wow those are some great prices. I got quoted at $170 for mine here in SoCal, and there’s a $25 rebate. Was hoping for at least $125 here before the rebate

Sorry, you're correct in that this makes no sense. This is their price model for 3 Series:
$89.95 for 20i/28i (4-cyl)
$99.95 for 35i/40i (6-cyl)
$105.95 for diesel
Prices are for current model (F3X), but prices may vary depending on series.

Right now they are running this price with $25 rebate, so $64.95 it was for me.

Since I have no way to DIY, I plan to do the same and then bring it all to my independent mechanic. He charges me about $20. So about $60 2x a year (every 5K miles). Won't break me!

The two Mann filters I just ordered from FCP Euro were about $7.50 each, though.

I just paid $75 at my local BMW dealer for my 335i and should get a $25 rebate on top of it.
