Timing Chain and Fuel Pump extended warranty

I've recently received mail from BMW informing me of the extension of replacing the fuel pump and timing chain on my N20 328i 2014. My question is my car is currently at 72k and I haven't ran into any issues with components listed above. Should I go ahead and get these parts replaced as other owners of the vehicle have came across issues or leave my vehicle as is?

It's an extended warranty not a recall or call to action if i remember correctly, so you'll just have to pray it fails within that period otherwise you're SOL

Wow that makes more sense. That's pretty trash imo. Hopefully I won't come across the issue.

N20/N26 TC ELW should be 7 years/70000 miles.

As others said... timing chain extension expires at 70k miles...

So you can go ahead and wipe your ass with that paper that came in the mail.

Dont worry... lots of us round these parts!

Im literally at 69,8XX miles on my 2014.

Same here. And since I am at 86k now, the TC warranty no longer applies

FWIW...

My coolant thermostat shit the bed at approximately 55k miles (out of factory warranty), and was replaced for free under this extension.

Felt pretty good.

I got mail saying the warranty was extended to 100,000 for both those parts. Must be different for each of us.

Maybe BMWNA decides to extend the "extended limited warranty" of the N20/N26 TC?

I will drop by to dealer service to inquire about this.

Would be awesome if they did. I will look out for an updated mailer in my mailbox considering that OP seems to have received it very recently.

When I called BMW NA to clear up some SULEV warranty stuff, the lady on the phone did mention that there was a good chance the extended warranty on the TC would be expanded to 100k, but did not know if it was a certain thing or when it would happen.

Fingers crossed we all get that piece of mail!

Good to know! When was this?

Even if we do not get updated mailers, perhaps they will apply the warranty if one goes in with a blown engine (but I hope that doesn't happen to anyone). So far, at 86k miles, my car shows no audible signs of TC failure so I am hoping it escaped that issue.

I called Sept of last year. I'm sitting at 64k miles now, so fingers crossed its official and we're all covered past 70K

It would feel a lot better if it didn't break to begin with.

In-tank fuel pump shot craps at 65K before the extended warranty letter was issued. Had to shell out roughly a grand to get it fixed. Was pleased to receive the letter a month later, filled out the requested info online and received full reimbursement about two weeks later. Wished it had never happened, but glad they stood behind it. Thanks BMW!

My TC/guides were replaced a little over a year ago with the updated parts at just under 40k miles. Hopefully BMW extends the TC warranty past 70k for all the others, since my SA was saying most of the ones he'd seen fail were past that mileage.

I take it you chose to pay out of pocket ahead of time to avoid the issue down the road?

How much did you pay at BMW dealer?
