How safe are eBay wheels?
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F232517528695
Look great, priced great, but I never have to worry about my wheel bending or cracking while going 75 mph on the highway with OEM rims, do I have to worry when buying from eBay? Thoughts/anyone who has bought from eBay? |

Great, fair question.
Anyone generalizing and saying all wheels found in eBay are junk... is an idiot. Lots of great retailers and products on eBay. Including high end aftermarket and OEM. I think the point is... to do a lot of research before deciding. |

OP, looks like those wheels are certified with TUV (the highest standard in Germany) and also come with a one year SUPPLIER guarantee (better than manuf warranty).
Not sure what the risk or downside is? Purists will say if you bought it on eBay and dont spend a lot... if definitely sucks. I like to use my own mind to make my own, informed decisions. |

In fact, try and find cee as a wheel manufacturers, much less TUV and cee in the same link for wheels or automotive parts. It appears to me they are actually made by another Chinese Company, IPW....but not ever under a Cee label. |

If the seller is very transparent and answers all questions with confidence, I don't see any concerns. As mentioned earlier "do your research". eBay is just another sales channel.

Why mess with questionable eBay stuff when you can get high quality aftermarket wheels for virtually the same price? For example: German made Rial X10 wheels are on TireRack for as little as $150 each, in 18x8 -- and they are specifically created for BMWs -- perfect hub bore and offset for the F30. I have two sets (8 all together) and they are strong as nails -- and available in silver, black, and grey. Plus they look hella-good. = )

PS -- Discount Tire / America's Tire have price matched these for me. I tend to get everything there -- wheels along with the tires (which they also price match). It just makes things simpler.
[edit] Oh, one last thing -- I fit 225 / 45 width tires on them, which might be a hair narrow for some -- you may want to get 235 width tires if you want a little lip -- for curb protection. |

I think they look sharp -- factory OEM looking, but without the OEM price -- which is exactly what I wanted. You can get a new pair of these for less than you can get a scraped-up pair of used 18-inch F30 wheels on Craig's List -- at least in my area. People want stupid prices for BMW wheels (18 inch and bigger, that is).

I bought a set of 437m Reps off Ebay and bent one of the rears in less than 6 months (no curb damage) So now I have some Rohana Rotary Forged wheels otw. I just had to spend money on wheels twice in the last 6months so I'd wait and save your money, Not worth the money. They use Low pressure casting and have hardly any quality control to keep cost down. But if your buying brand wheels on eBay then I'd say you're good. Whats the difference of buying brand on eBay Vs. Anywhere else? none.
On a side note though. Why dont you just pick up a used set of 397 wheels? They look very similar to the wheels recommended.

I've purchased two sets of "take - off" BMW OE wheels on eBay with absolutely no issue for snows. I purchased the 17" wheels with tires (all season) and sold off the used tires. The net transaction made the wheels about $100 / each which was a great deal.
I use 17" because they give you a much better selection of snow tires at lower prices and give better protection from pot holes (225-50-17) vs (225-45-18). As what has been said - do the research and eBay is a great source to get deals.

Yeah; they are very strong. I bottomed-out my suspension in a massive pot-hole -- on my Rial X10 wheels, going 40+mph -- and nothing happened. I thought for sure I would have bent or cracked a wheel.
