Ok, but i have allready pdc front and back, now i have retrofitted rear view camera. I have old version panel (nr 2) with just one pdc button. But now i have camera retrofitted and will be cool to have the separet button for it (nr. 3)
I can buy the panel like nr. 3, but how can i activate the button? And how i should install the wires for this camera button?
Thanks for helping!

So, if i push pdc button, i become just the PDCs to see, no rear cam. For the cam view i must activate the rear gear, or i must go in the pdcs menu to cam and activate the box.
Is kt possible to activate the cam together with pdc if i push the pdc button?

Another question: after installing the rear cam, i become wrong view angle.
Its like Fisheye.
On other F31 (rearcam from the beginning) its not so...
Calibrating needed?

Hey guys.
So I started to do the camera retrofit.
I have the oem canera, module and the retro harness. From ebay.
I bought the original F20 cable from camera to module, the cd changer bracket and nuts and bolts from BMW supplier.
I have F20 lci from 2016

I installed the bracket in the left side trunk under the lining. Removing the lining was super easy
I run the camera cable as required after removing the bumper.
I connected the ground terminal just begind the bracket but shortened the cable and installed a new pin to go into the ground comb.
I run the power cable to the fuse box. This was hard to connect the grey plastic insert into the fusebox as it is a very tight fit. I almost thought it does not fit. But it does. You need to push hard but gently. Installed the pin to port 6.
The cable is super long so for now I winded it up, but eventually I will buy a new pin and shorten that cable too.
The rest of the cables I will run through the centre console to the i drive and to the fem.
I was reading somewhere that some can tap the fem cables into the cables next to the idrive but it seems that some have this on different can. Shame as it would be a lot neater, and I am not looking forward to get to the fem module.

I am planing to use the esys to do the.VO route for coding, I might need some help though on that one.

But so far very nice experience just installing and sourcing the parts.

J

Ok so an update.
I did hqve to route the cables to fem on the left side and I do not have any cables in the FEM ports 51 and 52. So waiting for the pins now.

Is there anyone in London that would help me with the coding?

Also for entrinav are the pins in the quadlock 21, 23 and 24?

Thanks

Do you mind uploading a pic of how you've mounted the module in the boot? I was about to buy a bracket to mount it above the pedals but it seems like an unnecessary amount of work putting it there.

You do not need to buy bracket for above pedals mount.. you can use two zip tyes to secure module on his place.. one longer zip tye for slide and second one thru the bolt hole that is predictet for bracket...

Hi all. I've tried doing as much reading as I can but am still confused about the coding aspect.

I have a lot of retrofits done already. I've always found someone to code it but I'm now being quoted the same price as the parts to code the rear camera in so I want to try to code it myself.

From what I've read, if I VO code, it will wipe the module(s) and add in whatever option I input. I don't want to do this as I have a lot of retrofits where I do not know how they are coded in and don't want to end up erasing them. I have a 2013 F30 which has NBT EVO, M Sport steering wheel, LCI front and rear lights.

Should I FDL code the rear camera in to preserve my existing retrofits?

Hi mate.
Sure

the support (Bracket for DVD changer / backup camera)
Ref: 65 15 9 216 336

With the screws and nuts that go well:
- Hex nut x1 (M6-8-ZNS3 - 07 11 9 902 751)
- Prestol-cage x2 (32 41 1 095 443)
- Hex bolt with washer x2 (M6X16-U2-ZNS3 - 07 11 9 902 913)

You will also want the oem cable for the camera that the F20 fits. It comes with a rubber gasket preattached that you pass theough the car’s body

After you have this, you can buy the retrofit cable harness on ebay without the camera wire

The retrofit cable I got from this guy. He is super nice seller
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324171851...mis&media=COPY

You will get all you need.
You will need to untape the harness and retape as it will be routed differently to F10

The ground point there is a comb directly behind the cage and the unit so that you can wind up or shorten
The power cable goes to the boot fuse box and the cable for this is far too long. So you can again wind it or cut and re-pin. In the harness package you get the grey fusebox socket and the fuse (you will get a big fuse so you need to get the smaller one. I had two smaller fuses in the fuse box doing nothing so I used those)

Then the fem box, is in the LEFT foot well in front.
I did not have any cables in the slots so I needed to buy the pins and terminate the cables and slot them in, so I could not use the supplied splice fittings. Then the rest goes to the headunit.
So all on the left side of the car, very simple.

I had this coded by a pro. You may be lucky that the simple bimmercode coding will work but I suggest to do this properly and VO code it.
You can get this done by a pro for £60-£130 rotely or in person.
You can encouter a few issues, where the proper VO coding is required and also ISTA maintenance and resets of the units…

Make sure you pin them cables in the right slots

As if you do not have the proper tools it is a pain in the butt to remive the pins, prticularly from the HU harness.
You need a proper pin removal tool, and know how to. It is easy, but the first time you will sweat! Also the oem HU quadlock harness is short and hard to access, so rear 3 times and pin once.
The camera is perfect for me and the image wiality too. People were saying that it is shit, but it is not. The parking lines help and once you get the feel for wgere they are and where the wheels are,no more kerbing

If you need the pins let me know I will send the product number to buy. Buy them from a BMW service centre, same with the bolts, cage, wire.
On ebay they are terribly overpriced.
I bought all from BMW Stevenage

Also the pin into the fuse box is hard to obtain
So if you want to shorten the cables get yourself 20 of these:

61131383776

And rather shorten and replace the pin on the module side where all 6 cables go in. Much easier

The power cable is slighly fatter but the pin will be fine

And also I do NOT recomend shortening the video coaxial cable. Leave that as is.

You will need these pins for the FEM cables if your ports 51 and 52 are empty

And also to say that it is all done now for me. Coded, wired…

I also bought the little plastic bracket that snaps in the fender and the camera snaps into that.

I also made the hole in the fender too big and ugly so I 3d printed a flange to cover the mess, epoxy glued that it and then the camera snaps into that as if into original

I have generated a proper stencil for the cut out. As I needed to 3d print the cover, so if you want I can upload a stencil for 99% factory cut out.

It is not easy to cut the hole with the bumper in place. If you can take it off and do it in peace qnd do not rush.

And while you are removing the bumper, do not snap the screws in the wheel arch

Thank you for the responses. I checked my FEM and needed pins but I asked my local dealer and they were unable to tell me which pins I needed so thanks for that.

Who did you get to code it in? I may just get someone to code it.

I had a guy in London Leiton to do it. Drove over there. Its 50 mins for me. They called Bimmer Ltd.
It will be done on a parking lot , the location is weird, but the guy, Chaz, oozes confidence and experience. Official versions of esys and Ista, former BMW tech. He also offered me to do this remotelly, but I preffered to get to their location.
Not the cheapest, but I am happy.
I will get back to him with led headlights retro.

Let me know how it goes.
Also for the pins buy yourself the pin crimping tool. Any will do, but make sure it has a few sizes on the dye. Amazon has plenty. Something like these:

It is not that bad. Come on. You need to take into account that the cars we are fitting these oem retros into are at least 8 years old themselves.
For me, the camera is perfect. I will try to take a pic. The clarity is good, the image is not grainy.
I am a bmw geek so for me it is more important it is incorporated into the system and works. The only bit of non bmw tech in the car I can suffer is a aftermarket screen with apple carplay. Other than that, no point.
I could retro a later headunit, but do not want to do that. I only do things that can be VO coded and would be in the car potentially if picked by the original buyer. So once I go to the authorised service and they update the software the vin in the database will get updated too. That is just me though
