Check this research I've done regarding the F30 retrofit cable.
According to this Singapore site which claims to sell an entire kit (http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/elebest...-now-open.html), it indicates that the F30 retrofit part number is: Cable Kit: 61 12 2154**6, and leaving out the two mystery digits. Doing some further searches, I've found this other parts list, where it seems to fill these in (http://en.autospares.lv/price-lists/bmw/2509/), as 61122154696 (Spare Part BMW 61122154696 - Retrofit cable set, reversing camera). Of course, Tischer does not recognize the part, but only comes up in some shady eastern european parts sites. I think this solves the mystery as to the exact retrofit part number for the F30, the question now is sourcing the part. Has anyone tried calling up a local junkyard (U-Pull, etc) and finding out whether the cable can be pulled out from a junked F30, with camera? I would assume it could be complicated if the car is still much complete, and it would be a hassle freeing the cable. |

I just emailed Max at Elebest (that Singapore site you mentioned) and he quoted me $1500 for the whole rearview camera kit. I asked him if he sold just the retrofit cable by itself, and he didn't respond, so i assume no.
At this point, its more economical to get the kit for $1200 at BimmerTech. @roxxor, where did you pick up your retrofit cable from? I was able to find suppliers for all the other parts you mentioned in your parts list, but this elusive cable is the only thing that i can't find a supplier for. I have a 328i F30, but at this point, mounting the camera module in the trunk area is not the worst situation. It seems like that actually would be a good area for it. |

Thanks to this thread, I've now managed to successfully get the F30 reversing camera retrofitted.
I would like to claim all the credit and say I tirelessly searched ebay for the parts and spent hours removing trim ... but alas I didn't. After several emails from Patryk from Bimmertech Net my reversing Camera retrofit kit was paid for and quickly arrived by DHL. I then contacted Donald at Alarm A Car (Bristol) Ltd alarmacar@hotmail.co.uk who managed to fit me in last week! Patryk from bimmertech net is a true professional, quickly replying to a barrage of emails, being fully on hand to code the camera module into the car and giving advice when required! However the absolute star of this retrofit challenge, is definitely Donald from Alarm a Car who would not leave until the coding had been successfully completed by Patryk and he had fully tested the camera functions. He also made sure that all the wires were cloth wrapped into the main wiring loom and the camera module was put in its proper place on the drivers side. It later turned out that he does a lot of work for BMW Bristol ... and in fact specialises in fitting reversing cameras to anything from trucks to cars! So here is the fruits of their respective labours .... ![]() and here is the all important tow hitch zoom function .... ![]() (sorry this is a slight repost from pistonheads but I'm very happy with the work and more importantly NO MORE TOW HITCH MARKS on my bumper ![]() |

Does anyone know if I can use this contole module partnumber 66539240984 for my car F20. Because the production of this module was until September 2011 and my car is from November 2011.

As Roxxor has pointed out, the difference between the two camera control modules is the number of plugs. Rear view only has a plug for only one camera, whereas the surround module has five plugs (rear, 2x side & 2x top). The part numbers I found in the BMW ETK are:
Believe the cost of either is about the same

Do you know what the part numbers for the rest of the cameras are if we decide to go with the surround camera module?
If the surround module about the same price as the rear-only module, might as well get the surround one in case want to upgrade to full surround set up in the future. I kinda want to see how hard it would be to install these other cameras before considering that. But first, i'd like to know what those camera part numbers are. Thanks! |

Sure can; here are the two control modules: 66539350995 Rear view control module 66539350997 Side, Top & Rear control module (in production since 7/14) 66539302258 Side, Top & Rear control module (in production until 7/14 -- the one I am using) All are the same price here are the part numbers for the cameras: 66539240352 Side view Camera (in fenders) 66539240274 Top view Camera (in mirrors) 61119281258 Side view Camera HSD harness 61129281712 Top view Camera HSD line* * This is the part number from the BMW ETK, BUT something isn't right. It says you need two of them, BUT since the camera ECU is mounted under the drivers legs, seems like the two lines have to be of different lengths. Also, think all you need is just new mirror bases (in gloss black): 51167284133 Lower mirror housing, left 51167284134 Lower mirror housing, right While I used ECS Tuning for the cables, I got the two side view cameras off of eBay and would suggest that you shop there for all cameras Hope you find this helpful!

I think i screwed up. I've been waiting on a good deal on the rear camera on Ebay, and i finally pulled the trigger on one. I got this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351317087157 i pulled the trigger thinking that i scored the retrofit cable kit as well. Its hard to tell from the picture and the guy didn't have a part number for the cable. But now i realize that its probably just the shorter HSD cable that goes from the camera to the camera module. I didn't realize until reading the thread through again more thoroughly that the retrofit cable kit contains TWO cables which also contains the other main harness cable that goes from the camera module to iDrive unit. Argh. Does this mean i'll still need to get part #61122154696? if so i guess that means i'll end up with two short HSD cables and have to mount the camera module in the trunk area like roxxor. I'm curious... being that my camera control module will be in the trunk... if i decide later to do a retrofit of the surround camera set up, i would have to run the additional camera harnesses to the trunk area as well correct? Being that most of those additional cameras are up front, that would require extra long harness cables for each camera doesn't it? I'm guessing that the suround camera wire harnesses are cut for a length that assumes the camera module will be installed under the driver side dash, so if i end up mounting the module in the trunk, that would probably sink any chance of doing a full surround retrofit ![]() The last question i had was involving the OEM wire taps. Does that come with the retrofit kit? I'm pretty sure that the camera+cable i just purchased off Ebay won't come with those. Are they absolutely necessary? Can i just use get equivalents at Lowes/Home Depot? If someone has one of these laying around loose, would appreciate if you could snap a pic of it so that i can see what type it is. But if you think it will come with the retrofit kit, no worries. I'll prob need to order that anyways. Quote:

First off, the camera is correct. The HSD Cable you are referring to (the one used by Roxxor) is too short to connect to TRSV if it is mounted under drivers legs; you'll need the HSD line for X3 ( 61129241791). You can mount control unit in trunk, but other cameras won't reach it as I discovered. On the other hand, by going with trunk mount, you may have what you need and it will be a little easier, but if you later decide on more cameras, you'll probably have to redo some of your work Hope that helps!

To all those with the shorter F10 cable, how much shorter is it? In the pictures it looks about 6 to 9 feet (2 to 3 meters for you weirdos) the other longer cable looks about double the length.
For the longer cable how did you run it? |

Think i'm gonna pass on the surround camera retrofit after seeing this thread for the first time today. Its going to be challenging enough to deal with rear camera malfunctions by itself let alone from multiple camera modules. Its one thing to have optioned this in during production build, and have the dealer deal with the issues under warranty. But its just not cost effective to have to replace faulty camera modules, extra HSD cables, etc.. for a retrofit, if known issues start to crop up. I don't wanna have to be taking things apart more than once, let alone the $$$ for replacement parts. That plus the coding challenges Rsnic is currently facing is making me shy away.
Plus it was just a cool nice-to-have feature for me. My primary objective is rear/backup safety issues and being warned when my lowered lip and bumper are about to hit a parking block ![]() So .... still committed to the rear camera retrofit. Now i don't have to worry about the shorter HSD cable i just picked up with my camera, or having to mount the camera module in the trunk! Life is much better when things are simplified ![]() |

That comes with 61122154696, which i'll order from Partsale.eu. I ordered my rear PDC retrofit cable from there as well. Its a legit place from what roxxor said... they just have long lead times getting parts into their inventory. But given how hard it is to get some parts, i'll take that any day.
