PSdZData Full vs. Lite

Do I really need to use the Full version knowing that the Lite one is so much smaller ?

If you're not going to flash the ECU and just doing FDL coding then the lite version is all you need.

wait... what is this 'lite' version and how did you find it. I am STILL downloading 'full' for the 2nd day.

Lite version is identical, but with all the SWFL (flash firmware files) removed, which are only needed for Flashing (not coding), so it weighs in at only 25% of the size.

For Lite version, one only needs to ask for it.

You should use IDM (Internet Download Manager) and stack them up, let it run overnight.

Actually, people should download only what they need.

With or without a download manager, downloading the Full 30 Gb version when only the 7 Gb Lite version is needed just wastes bandwidth and needlessly strains the server.

What changes or new features can I expect (if any) when flashing? If no changes or features, why would you wan't to flash at all?

Generally, you do not get new features with new firmware, only bug fixes, but on occasion you do. Many people now are flashing NBT Units to the new iDrive 4.2 firmware, which adds many things.

Flashing is needed too though when adding a used ECU to the vehicle to write car VIN to it.
