Drag times 435xi - BM3 stage 2 - 93
first time at the drag strip.
I ran 12.65 in the quarter mile with 118.9 MPH trapping speed speed is pretty impressive but ET does not match up, and I"m told I should be in mid to upper 11's for that speed. Any tips? Driving a 435xi with bm3 stage 2 - 93 (AI, High flow DP) no intercooler yet but it was around 58F (14C) It is my first time at the drag strip so my launches need improving, also it was raining that day, so it wasn't fully dry. I experimented with sport+ launch and DSC completely off and got almost identical ET's For those who are running similar mods or are more experienced if they can chime in to provide more tips that would be great!

The trap speed is suspect but your E/T is on par with what most Stage 2 N55s do on regular fuel. If you went E30, you would do 12.2-12.3
I would try another drag strip if you can or get a draggy for $150 and see what your actual trap speed is since they’re very accurate.

I find that my launch up to 60' is not bad or at least on par with others doing better ET's but then something is slowing me down from 60' to 1/8 cuz I'm losing time and speed but then from 1/8 to 1/4 I pick up speed really well (numbers are below) 60' 1.964 (S3) 1.969 (me) 330' 5.241 (S3) 5.323 (me) 1/8 7.959 (S3) 8.157 (me) 1/4 12.282 (S3) 12.675 (me) MPH -1 89.62 (S3) 85.94 (me) MPH-2 113.48 (S3) 118.92 (me) Also comparing with another n55 stage 2 regular gas. he ran 12.33 trapping 113mph (different drag strip) exact same scenario happens I'm doing better 60' then I slow down and lose time from 60 to 1/8 then pick up speed from 1/8 to 1/4 here's a comparison of numbers: 60' 1.963 (him) 1.937 (me) 330' 5.290 (him) 5.302 (me) 1/8 8.017 (him) 8.134 (me) 1/4 12.336 (him) 12.653 (me) MPH -1 90.06 (him) 85.94 (me) MPH-2 113.03 (him) 118.88 (me) I'm trying to think of all the possible reasons why this is happening: could this be a tune issue? spark plugs? (they're the stock ones at 73,00 miles (110,000km) and I think I can benefit from 1 step colder plugs?) I didn't have an intercooler (received it today ) but the weather was cold 58F (14C) could this be it affecting power at lower gears? Could it be a transmission shifting issue? I have an XHP transmission Flash Quote:
