EcoPro feels borderline unsafe. The throttle muting and total lack of responsiveness is honestly dangerous. It is garbage and literally will save you like $10 in gas per year.

I wish I could customize the modes, for just normal commuting I would keep the low rpm shifting of comfort/eco pro but have the throttle response of sport.

On comfort mode while pushing it, never goes below 45mpg. Currently at 49mpg with a 2L diesel.

Last weekend I took a trip to Niagara Falls with the GF. Total trip was 900~ miles, 800 of that being highway. Cruise at 80 the whole way, occassional sprints up to 90-100 to make a pass etc, never left comfort mode.

34.5MPG

More than happy with that since it exceeds the estimated mileage by a hair and I have the JB+ hooked up.

You can do better than that. LA to Vegas got me 36mpg on sport mode at 70 mph cruise control active on paddle shift.....yeah paddle shift or manual mode just to use 8th gear at 70 mph which on auto will be at 7th gear🤣

I actually take advantage of this "feature" on a regular basis when there's bumper-to-bumper traffic or I am in a neighborhood with prolonged 25 mph speed limits and cops that are happy to hand out tickets. Eco Pro keeps me from unnecessarily accelerating too much in heavy traffic or unknowingly exceeding the 25 mph speed limit into ticket territory (which can happen surprisingly smoothly and quickly on these cars!).

I just get a kick out of ECO

EDIT: that being said, I totally agree @ Kafkaesque328
Things can get real salty real fast. The lack of power that ECO restricts you to is downright alarming, especially in HWY maneuvering. There has to be some special iDrive warning for that

I commute from Elk Grove to El Dorado Hills 2-3x a week. Taking surface streets I get about 27 mpg on the way up. On the way home I tale the freeway and average 37 mpg when cruise is set to 72-74.

23.0 mpg between freeway and city (traffic) driving with the occasional swap to 'sport' mode and some open throttle blasts. On long highway trips, I've seen 38/39mpg.

Just got my 340i and the 1st tank I got 25mpg for mixed driving (city/highway). Coming from
a 2014 Mustang GT w/ 420RWHP, I felt that was pretty good...

2014 335xi averaging about 25ish mpg for 70% highway driving. On long trips I see around 30 but I spend most of my commute surrounded by horrible and inattentive drivers

That digital cluster looks amazing. I was looking at retrofitting mine, still a bit pricey at the moment.

I remember debating so much with myself at the time when I was configuring my car ... "should I go analog and have that old-school-look or sport the newer tech? "

As much as I love mechanical pieces - super glad I stood by my gut-feeling and kept the Digital Cluster on. It just looks soo much better in real life.
You will like it a lot once you change yours !

Only have 200 miles so far but eco mode based on how much gas I put back in was almost 31mpg. Car said 41.

I’m not liking eco mode. I will probably keep it in comfort or sport.

FBO 435i running BM3 Stage 2

If I stay out of boost, I can finish my commute averaging 27-30 MPG

That happens once every couple of weeks probably. Realistically, I get around 20-22 MPG on my commute through the city (fun windy road 50-60 mph, not too bad).

My tank holds only 10 gallons.

A few tanks ago, I got 88 MPG for the whole tank. But playing around in sport mode on the next tank I got right at 44 MPG, which brought my average way down.

Filled up today right when the light and iDrive warnings went on and got 79 MPG, which brought the overall average up to 64 MPG. The BMW Connected App in the phone showed me at around 105 MPGe.

The depressed looking schmuck at the pump next to me, in the rusted Dodge Ram, had $96.00 bucks showing on the meter. I tried not to smile.
