Mass Air Flow Sensor

Hi all. Was wondering which MAF sensor is the right one for a 2013 328i and was wondering if since I cleaned my MAF sensor located nearest the air filter and I still get the engine light If it’s bad and if so which sensor do I buy because when I type in MAF sensor into google for 2013 328i I get what looks like a black and white plastic sensor with a filament of sorts but the sensor I. My car is what looks like a stick like normal MAF sensors. Anyone have a clue or answers here?

Have you read the codes? Check engine light could be anything. If not, start there. Get auto zone to do it if you don't have access to a scan tool. Are you having a specific problem? You don't want to be buying expensive parts like mad sensors unless you're sure they are the root cause of your problems.

That's not the MAF sensor, it's the hot-film air mass meter. The MAF is on the charge pipe near the intake manifold. But as already mentioned the CEL could be any one of a dozen things.

Uh, I think you're confusing MAP and MAF, Bill. The MAF is right behind the air filter, the MAP is on the charge pipe.

Maybe, you've got to clean both in any event.

Wrong. The one in the charge pipe is a map sensor.

MAF is right after air filter in intake

MAP 1 is in charge pipe before throttle body

MAP 2 is on the intake manifold (after the throttle body)

I've never heard of anyone cleaning a MAP sensor... but maybe that's a thing?
