F30 320i - accelerating on its own

I'm based in UK and own a 2016 F30 320i M Sport. The other day I was pulling into my driveway at about 3 mph as I have done for over 20 years and perhaps the 10,000th time when all of a sudden the car suddenly lurched forwards and gained speed at an alarming rate and crashed right through my side gates. miraculously nobody was hurt and minimal damage to car but gates are destroyed. It was a terrifying experience. Has anyone else experienced this issue in UK? I have read countless other stories of similar experiences in many other model bmws. Im now really worried about driving the car. Ive written to BMW to ask them to look at the car. Awaiting a response.

... if there was only a pedal next to the gas that could stop a vehicle ... and as per design, can or almost can prevent movement even with full throttle at the same.

Show me one documented case any where on any brand where the "car just accelerated and crashed". EVERY one of those come back with "umm... yeh... no brake input was detected sir...."

But, there are a lot of threads of people screwing up (crap happens, live with it), reaching out to see if they can leverage anything to get out of being liable for their actions.

I'm sure if you look up the scandal involving Toyota and their cars accelerating with no driver input you'll shut up

There was no "scandal". They had issues where their matts slid under the pedal and kept the accelerator pressed. Again, press the brake and it would stop. Car didn't accelerate on it's own, driver pressed the gas, pedal didn't release.
