Help, installed a fuel pump with no lock ring tool

Hey guys, I didn't watch any vids on how to do the fuel pump because I've done it on my e46 twice but I didn't know the f30 needs a tool to get it back on

Is there any way to get it on without the BMW tool? Anything AutoZone/advanced auto might have? I was able to get it slightly in under the first notch to hold so I think I can make it to one of those stores. Thanks.

Billfitz sorry for not being specific what I was referring to is the locking ring that holds the fuel pump down under the rear seats

Just to save some time after posting I did purchase two different tools from Amazon to see which one works and then I'll return one of them

Nylon chisel and a hammer? Failing that, regular chisel/screwdriver and a hammer if you think the ring can hold up to that.

I have to look for my chisel I was using a flat head screwdriver before with a hammer but the thing is that you need a lot of force to make it past those ridges. On the older BMW models they were ridges all over the place and you can easily hammer it in and out but with the new model there are tabs that have dimples on them let's say that make it a lot more difficult to knock in

Yea, I looked at a video of someone removing the ring and there's a lot less clearance than I thought. It also looks like the lock ring is not very durable. I'd wait for a tool or make one of my own that does the same thing.

I used a hammer and chisel, bought an extra lock ring just in case but didn’t end up needing to replace it. As long as you don’t do hard, swift hammer blows you’ll be fine

Follow up; received the three arm tool from amazon and it worked. Made sure the prongs were on snug then tighten up the top nut. With a 17" breaker bar it wouldn't budge, had to use a 2.5' pole from my floor jack for extra leverage which worked.
