What is Your Ideal Exhaust?

Hi Guys! We are planning some exciting new changes for our line of BMW products and would love to hear your opinions on what makes the perfect exhaust system. This type of feedback from the community helps us make decisions for future development and fine tune our products to the needs of the customers. If you have a moment, we ask that you please answer the 4 quick questions below regarding what you look for in an aftermarket catback system. Thank you in advance for taking the time to contribute!

1) What sound level do you prefer from a performance exhaust system?
PICK ONE:
  • Stock
  • Slightly louder than stock
  • Noticeably louder than stock
  • Aggressively louder than stock
2) What tip finish/style would you want in a performance exhaust system?
PICK ONE:
  • Polished
  • Satin Finish
  • Satin Black
  • Carbon fiber
  • Titanium
3) What material do you want when buying a performance exhaust system?
PICK ONE:
  • Standard 409 stainless steel
  • Higher cost 304 stainless steel
  • Titanium
4) What’s most important when looking to upgrade a stock exhaust system?
RANK FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT:
  • Weight reduction
  • Horsepower/Torque
  • System longevity
  • Ability to handle flow requirements due to other modifications

The main thing I want from an catback exhaust is good sound. A modular system that allows people to interchange components would be ideal, because obviously between the first two responses, our priorities can be very different. But at the end of the day i'm not too concerned about power/flow from a catback since it has little to no affect on it. But a straight flowing exhaust that sounds bad won't sell.

1) Depends on the engine... noticeably louder than stock for something with 6 cylinder, aggressive (pretty much a straight pipe) for anything with more.

2) Satin Black with Carbon Fiber ones if I had some spare cash to get them

3) No real preference so probably the 409.

4)
Flow requirements
Horsepower/Torque
System longevity
Weight Reduction

If sound was an option for question 4 that would be my top answer however.

Although, haven't seen any titanium exhausts for the 340i yet.

Aggressively Louder (I add exhaust for performance/sound)

Multiple different tip choice would be awesome! If I had to choose one it would be Carbon followed by Satin

Higher cost 304 for price reasons, but a full Ti option for weight savings is always cool

1. Weight reduction
2. Hp/Tq
3. Ability to handle flow
4. Longevity

Remus exhaust is way too quiet on E9x and E8x.
