MPPSK Fitting ~ How long does it take?

Didn't want to hijack anothers thread on MPPSK but I'd like to know folks experience and what to expect in terms of time taken for fitment. The dealer is saying 2 hours but programming / coding could take 3 - 4 hours.

The car is booked for a 10.30 slot on Thursday (at BMW Crewe) and it'd be good to know approx. how long this should / would take?

TIA

Mine took 3-4 hours, but they couldn't get the coding done as it rejected the code BMW sent them. They had to request another one so it went back for a few hours on another day.

Thanks for the info, I hope that doesn't happen as Crewe is 145 miles, 2h 20 away and because of domestic caring commitments I'm reliant on others to deliver / return my car for me.

Where was yours fitted?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a clean installation.

Any other experience welcomed.

Cheers

BMW Cooper Durham installed the exhaust within a few hours then ended up keeping my car over night to flash the upgrade the following morning as they couldn't get it to go on during day 1.

Coopers Reading had my car for 6 or so hours but it only took them 3-4 hours.
The exhaust is quick, the coding isn't.

Coopers Reading seem to have a lot of experience in this. Would have tried them if I was still travelling that far. Lived in Finchampstead for 11 years, a while ago, would be useful now.

Cheers

I think it depends on the age of your car
Exhaust takes around 60-90mns
Coding however can take up to 5 hrs or more. Mine was a lot quicker, 2hrs, as it was only 6 mths old. This was the explanation I was given by the tech who did the work

PS Coopers Reading did mine. I chose them as they had more experience of MPPSK installations than any other dealership at the time

Mine was Cooper's Reading. They warned me pretty quick they were having problems, so I have no complaints about the service, was nice to see some honesty. I'm only 20-30 minutes away from them, so wasn't too bad for me.

I can see that would be a big issue for you though, hopefully yours will go smoothly.

They did say that as mine is only 5 months old it should be on the quicker side of 3 -4 hours.

Fingers crossed!

440i GC --> MPPSK

To answer my own question, it took 5 hours, all dealt with in a friendly professional manner but the request for the Workshop Certificate was met with blank looks even though this dealer regularly conducts this upgrade. Finally received the certificate and all is well, they even conducted a standard vehicle inspection. Sport Displays are showing the enhanced levels and the car is superb to drive and listen to. A well recommended upgrade if there are any kits left for a pre-July build x40i.

Same happened to me. The exhaust was done within 2 hours (in the installation manual it is estimated as 1h job), however the coding (due to the reasons above) took 3 DAYS! (Ok, 2 days to be fair, excluding Sunday).

The SW flashing itself, once they get hold of the software, is a 10-15min job.
