Which petrol stations work properly for filling air to large tmps sterns?

Hi there, having just bought a new car and trying to check air pressure at both shell and sainsbury's, neither could push down deep enough to make a sealed connection, instead letting air out.

Helpful formers on here have said the protrusion is the tpms valve.. Pictured here https://photos.app.goo.gl/319Y3oEmHF4MZsSo7

I'm not sure what to do, as adding air worked perfectly fine at the tyre changing centre where I've just swapped from budget tyres to mps4s

Could I manually trim down the metal with a carving knife. I'm guessing they're not oem standard bmw parts if I'm the only one experiencing this problem?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: RESOLVED: Simply turning the petrol station pump the other way using the backwards vent works like normal. I always wondered why there is two om when the do the same thing. It's a little fiddley feeding it through the alloy against the brake pad, but works straight away. Phew Thanks everyone for their help

Get yourself a Michelin Analogue Double Barrel Footpump and keep it in the boot. Sturdy and reliable. Screw down valve fit works fine with TPMS valves. I don't trust forecourt airlines. They never get calibrated and give inconsistent readings

Thanks, that's cheap really, so basically as long as there's enough thread to connect, then it should be fine. Does it look to be so from the pic I posted

They get some bad reviews but I've never had a problem with mine. Pump needs to be on the level when you're applying pressure with your foot

I have my own compressor and airline, but not with any special valve connectors - just standard stuff and I’ve never had a problem.
