Picked up a CTSTurbo intercooler, DIY install, thoughts and testing

Just installed mine this morning. Went in and out pretty easily. I have an ER IC to intake manifold CP, but I have the stock turbo to intercooler CP. I couldn't get that stock black retainer clip back on over the metal clip on the OEM turbo to intercooler side. I left it off, do I need it? The metal clip is in there right now.

Grab the turbo to intercooler and pull down towards intercooler *click *done

That sounds like you're describing putting on the metal retaining clip, not the black plastic clip that goes over the metal one. Am I right?

Oh that black plastic u need it, pretty sure it holds the retainer in place and locked. Try to find evolution racewerk's diy for installing charge pipe, there might be a picture showing how to remove/install that black plastic and retainer. I rememeber u are able to slide it up and down.
Or wheen i have time i can check my stock charge pipe and see how the black plastic works.

I asked about this during mine and was told by one of the vendors that it didn't need to be reused as the spring C clip would hold in place without. I don't think the piping would wiggle out of there if the C clips are in there properly. He said it was a superfluous BMW thing.

Bad boy got installed yesterday, morning IAT temps with ambient 59F went up to 134F in a WOT pull (stock FMIC). After Upgraded was installed this evening 69-70F ambient temps were 90F and on WOT would drop to 77-84F range. I did all modes and back to back and temps would drop

I did the logs via jb4 map4 (since im on Bootmod3 flash) and now my boost is even more consistent than before

since IAT are happy. For some reason when I upload it on datazap its not showing WOT only like it is on the jb4 mobile log viewer.

I'll do Bootmod3 logging as well. Started a thread for the X3/X4 guys since I am the first one to have retrofitted in the X3/X4 model.

Btw, wish I seen this before i would of had my shop measure it.
If anyone going to install it after seeing this, try to measure it this way.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale. I ordered one Saturday afternoon. Temps are only in the low 90's now but I suspect it will warm up soon.

As for logs, I believe FSociety has some before and after data. I do not have any before data, but can get some after data when I cruise and autocross my car in a few weeks here in VA!
