Looking at picking up a CPO 3 series need some help.

I asked these questions on the Bimmer forum, but I figured it would probably get more traction here.

So, I’m in the market for a new (used) car. I really had my heart set on an F30 328i. During my research I started reading about the infamous timing chain issue, so I started considering the 320 only to find out that they also have the same N20/26 engine. I also read that starting in 2016, the 320 would be equipped with the all new B48 engine. I thought to myself “cool,” since 2016 models were the oldest I am considering for purchase. Then I read that only European market 320 models will be receiving the new B48 motor starting in 2016; US bound cars would continue receiving the N20/26 until 2019.

Am I worrying for nothing? I figured that if I get a CPO car, and it hasn’t had the upgraded timing chain components already added, I could probably request that as part of the deal?

For those of you that have 2016 and 17 320 models, could you confirm which motor is in your car?

Thanks.

This seems to be the jist of what I'm continuing to learn. I'm reading that the easiest way to tell straight off is to take off the oil filler cap and look inside. It seems the newer/updated guides should be bright white; if I see those, then it is logical to assume the cam and oil pump components are the updated parts as well.

They have extended the warranty to 7yr/70k miles
