IMO, consider replacing the OEM display with an AVIN 10.25” unit - much simpler, easier (no coding, no cutting, no gaps), 100% OEM fit for about $400. No need to use the Android side, it works and looks fantastic as OEM display replacement.

So you can just plug in the F3x Avin unit in and it'll act as a screen for the existing NBT?

If you search the F30 forum, you can see how it's installed. It's a bit different then installing a BMW 10.25 screen.

Plug Avin harness (only 4 wires are required - 12V, ground and CAN) to NBT and to screen, and the OEM LVDS cable to screen. That's it.

No need to cut dash or display, no coding and no hole in the back of the display.

Yeah, painted and clear coated.
Since you are running ID6 I guess you are having the x5 touchscreen right? I tried to remove the surrounding trim when I was doing this but got no luck. How were you able to remove it? Do you have to disassemble the whole screen?

Yes, just remove back cover it has 2 screws, and then behind the trim little clips that you need to carefully unclip from behind one by one, it's very flimsy easy to snap it.

Then you just spray paint the trim? No need to have it sanded? Did you do prime coat - color coat - clear coat?

Damn that looks nice. I just installed a 10.25" touchscreen and had it all disassembled on my bench while modifying the back to fit the dash but did not paint the trim. Definitely need to do that.

Painted the trim on Saturday. I lightly scuffed it with 800 grit, cleaned it, then rattle canned a few coats of gloss black over 30-40 minutes. It's not perfect but pretty good. There's a tiny spot of orange peel texture on the left, if it bugs me too much I'll sand it and respray it.

Looks way better than the chrome trim!

2016 lci comes with NBT evo headunit. This screen doesn't work.

I have the 8.8 screen 9387453 running now that I upgraded from the 6.5 inch screen. Isn't that apix1 the same as last h 10.25 inch one I linked?

I have nbt Evo id4 but in thought that was still apix1

I do not have navigation if that makes a difference
