Anyone else suffered this?

Every so often, on a neutral throttle I get a very slight, what can only be described as a stutter or hesitancy from the engine. Almost feels like a misfire and then goes. Only does it once though. Seems to be happening more often lately. Doesn’t do it under load or off the throttle just very intermittently on s neutral throttle. Car is a 2015 335d with 37k. Wondering if anyone else has had this?

Have you tried V Power or BP ultimate, or do you just use the supermarket cheapest?

It’s not fuel related.

Never use cheap fuel. Always Shell Diesel with the first fill up of the month being vpower and subsequent fill ups normal Shell diesel.

Nope, always assumed it was something like a regen kicking in. Never threw any fault codes.

I also always use premium diesel and if not available I have millers additive with me to stick in if I have to use normal diesel.

Possibly EGR related, sticking EGR valve?

Yeah, I’m erring towards an EGR related issue.

Ought to get it checked but can foresee the standard ‘we can’t find any fault codes sir’ blah blah blah!!!

Would this get looked at when the EGR recall happens?

Unlikely but I guess it could be.

Mine has only done it for the last 6 months or so and was very in frequent. Starting to do it a little more often now though...

I have another car (a Mazda) that does this. I'm pretty sure the problem is carbon buildup in the intake (manifold, valves etc). I'll be getting rid of it soon as I've had enough of diesel but if you wanted to fix your car you could investigate walnut blasting to remove the carbon.

I used to swear by Forte advanced diesel treatment for my PD TDI VWs. A dose of that followed by an Italian tune-up might clean out any accumulated soot, etc..

Sounds exactly like the EGR problem I had with mine. It was replaced under warranty as a result.
