jan 2012 build 328i n20 oil filter ?
just a quick question as people would have dealt with this before I'm sure
I've just bought a 2012 bmw 328i lux ,love it !!! gonna change the oil asap as I'm not a fan of long oil intervals the oil filter is listed as two different types ,so I went to eurocarparts as I like to use MAnn stuff usually ,there is a choice of 2 ,but according to their and almost all other car parts data my car shouldn't take the hu816z ,yet that looks the right one and the description stats cars from 04/2012 and aluminium housing ,my car is a 01/2012 and has a aluminium housing ,the other choice was for my model build but plastic housing filter body and upto 04/2012 now I'm pretty sure I want the hu816z but anybody confirm this |

If you go to the parts dept of your local BMW dealer and give them your VIN/registration, won't they tell you the correct part number - or am I missing something?

I have a May 2012 (I think) 328i 12 plate (also a lux model)
I bought a couple of genuine filters from BMW and I'm pretty sure the housing is plastic The part number on the filter is MANN HU816 Not sure if this helps though although it does show that the dealer part is just a generic Mann filter The dealer part does contain a new plastic sump plug and a washer (plastic plug for plastic sump S Drive, washer for metal sump X drive) which a generic filter from ECP might not contain. I paid I think 27 quid for the pair delivered from Cotswold |
