Today I took my 2012 X3 to the dealer for service and I was given a loaner for the day, an F30 2013, I connected my Ipod classic 160gb(latest generation) to the Idrive using only the WHITE clable and the Idrive did not recognize the Ipod(external device) this is the same cable I use on my 2012 X3, I also carry the Y cable and my Ipod works fine.
I'm on my last months of my lease and I will be ordering an F30 or F32, will I have the same issues when it comes to external devices??? as you know with the WHITE cable the art work of every album displays, with the Y cable you can't display the art work.

Can it be that the Dealer didn't have the apple interface set up properly??
Anyone has experienced the same issue??

Multiple threads on this in the audio section. iPod Classic does not work with the iDrive.

Not true, i've been using my iPod classic on my F30 with idrive without any issues. I use the Y-cable.

I have an 160 Gb classic and it works fine in mine using apple cable.

I currently use my CLASSIC IPOD 160GB in my 2012 X3(no Nav.) with the Apple cable and it works just fine, but when I connected my Ipod in the loaners Idrive I was shocked that the Ipod Classic didn't work until I used the Y cable. I'm getting ready to order an F30 or F32 I just don't want to go through a purchase of a new IPOD. I've used my Ipod classics since my E46 in '04, I have mostly long MIXES and LIVE concerts an Ipod touch doesn't have enough space for my music.
