DAB losing signal

Is anyone else having issues listening to DAB radio?

I normally listen to Kiss FM on the way to work, if I put it on DAB then I lose signal at least 6 times on the way to work, so just end up putting it onto normal radio.

Anyone else having problems?

Certain areas are a problem for my DAB, but in general it's fine.
Digital signals reception vary area to area.

I like "Team Rock and Planet Rock" on DAB, I switch between them to avoid the adds.

DAB is terrible at the moment - tried it on a long drive and got fed up with the constant blips of silence as it lost signal going under bridges etc on the motorway - I'm sure it will be better than analogue one day, but not yet

Glad I'm not the only one then.

Trouble is listening to the iPod every so often it just stops being recognised in the car, so I have to try and unplug it, then re plug it in to reconnect it. Maybe BMW's don't like 160Gb iPod's!!

If you flick between the radio and media button it normally sees it again and starts playing

Can't say I've noticed it being so bad.. Yes, there've been a few drop out's here and there, but they seem to be at exactly the same places on repeat journeys so it's just a "sight to tower" thing...

I think you can set up the system to swap between FM and DAB automatically when signals fade/drop.. I'd have to check but try flicking to the right menu in "radio" and see if there is an option box to check for that... I think there is....

I'll give that a look, coz that would be useful.

Yaaaay for correct spelling of losing

DAB does cut out from time to time, and trust me, when going to work, I know all the little (well both) places it cuts for 'no signal' It only lasts for a couple of seconds, and to be fair so does FM occasionally. Nice thing about DAB is it is a top quality signal until it cuts out, whereas FM gets 'scratchy' both sides of the loss. Which is much more irritating if you ask me.

I'm the opposite.
I prefer FM sound. Listen to Classic FM, Radios 3 and 4. Hardly any interference on FM or signal drop with DAB on my daily drive through Central London.

Nothing to do with age. Just a difference in taste. Ever since my teenage years, I've mainly listened to Classical Music. Vive la différence.
You should try it and graduate even in your retirement and while hooning in your M5.

When I retire, I'll play acid rock, pop an E, snort some coke, and drive my Honda Jazz (I'll be very poor) like a mad cap.

Care to join me?

No problems here, listening to my 160Gb ipod. It can be slow when you have stopped the motor, then restart. That's what happens to mine's anyway.
No much deal.
My problem is the loss of digital station LBC. They are not transmitting it now in my area.

I love my DAB - it's sounds great and almost never cuts out!

There are 3 areas I have issues, one local to me where there seems to be interference for ~50m, a short section of the A127 near Rayleigh and the Darfford Tunnel (OK I'll forgive that one!!).
