Just wondering if a low battery kob can cause the car to shut down while driving?
I have a 2017 320i with push to start. My key fob battery is low and was wondering if it can cause my car to turn off while driving.

nope.

you can drive the car without the fob present. won't be able to start it, but once started, fob should have zero effect on the engine.

As mentioned beforehand, your car doesn't require the fob, once it's powered on. I'd have the alternator, crankshaft sensor, fuel pump, SCR / DPF systems checked.
A full scan, should reveal hints about what went wrong. There are quite a few possibilities. Have your car serviced asap, you don't want such an issue arise where you could put your life at risk.
