Paint protection for track days

What do you guys use for paint protection for track days? Also what areas do you cover to protect the paint?

I always thought track day stone chips and such were more like "trophies"

I just have clearbra on the car. That said, I'm thinking of getting some mud flaps to prevent rubber from getting on the sides of the car. That's a pain to clean off.

So after some research, I've found the following options.

3"x100' Car TrackArmour Film $24.99
6"x100' Car TrackArmour Film $44.99
12"x300' Car TrackArmour Film $144.99
https://www.trackarmour.com/

TrakkTape™ is available in 3 roll sizes.
3 inches (width) x 100 feet (length) $35.00
6 inchs (width) x 100 feet (length) $65.00
6 inches (width) x 600 feet (length) $145.00

Paintshield 5720

After reading reviews, I think I'm going to go with the Paintshield 5720. It seems to be the most cost-effective, best performer and easy to apply/remove of the other temporary solutions.

Be sure to double check the thickness of the material you're getting. Anything that's a liquid will not be as durable as the film options. XPEL TRACWRAP is also the only option listed above that's 8.5mil in thickness. All of the others seem to be 5mil or less. If price is a concern, as a member of F30Post/being a BMWCCA Member, I'm happy to offer you 20% off an order of TRACWRAP. **This offer stands for ANYONE on this thread** Just use promo code "BMWCCA" at checkout on XPEL.com to apply the discount. I would visit AMMO's detailing website and check out the videos of his track car. He has a 911 that he did a complete repaint on and then wrapped it to protect for track use. He runs Ammo detailing and is very particular about his cars. I would say whatever was good enough for his track car would be good enough for yours!
Lots of in depth videos about the repainting process and wrapping of his Porsche 964.

The best stuff to use HANDS DOWN. Better than tape by far. Goes on and off in a breeze. After 6+ years of track days, my front end looks as good as a brand new car. I actually get compliments on how clean my nose is...cheap effective and can be bought at Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart. You want the CLEAR paper. Roll it on from bottom to top with a slight overlap, cut it with scissors or razor blade, then tape down the edges. You can have a rock hit it with no damage whatsoever. When the event is over, peel off and clean and you are good to go. After severals years, no harmful effects to the paint.

Thank you! Please keep us posted with your experience using XPEL TRACWRAP. You may want to bring a pair of scissors to help you cut the material into smaller sections to fit around certain curves/surfaces. After a couple minutes installing it, you'll get the hang of it.

SolidJake,

Why yes, yes we do. XPEL Pre-Cut F30 Headlights. This does say it's a 3 Star Difficulty on the install so you may be better off going to an XPEL Certified Installer Nearest You and just having them do the installation for you.

Hope this helps, let us know what else we can assist with.

Blue painter's tape is what we all used to use. Cover paint in front, maybe a bit of the hood and go from there.

Exactly how I do it. Track days are already so expensive and it works fine or better than other more costly options.

Cover the nose and the trailing side of each fender.
