I have some annoying families on my street who walk down the middle of the road and pretend like you're inconveniencing them by driving on it. This weekend was the last straw, my car needs to be louder... AWE exhaust will be ordered shortly.

Uh oh. You're going to summon the rumble from Sport + mode, aren't ya? Going with the axle-back on its own or the mid pipe, too?

Probably just the axle-back because eventually I'll get a downpipe and I kind of want that stock resonator in place.

Not a bad plan of attack! Should sound gnarly.

Is that the MPE exhaust or the full MPSSK?

This is the MPE exhaust with AWE midpipe. The MPPSK for the 340i comes with a midpipe. This mod essentially makes it sound very similar to the mppsk setup. I get the same "gunshot" snap crackle pop after letting off the throttle. its intoxicating.

I'm only running 91 octane, but my AWE catback will fire off multiple really loud gunshots like you have instead of just the single. Were you running sport or sport+?

Does the midpipe and MPE bolt up or does something need to be fabricated?

It will mate to the MPE just fine.

It typically fires multiple like you are describing, the one shot was a rare occurrence

Finally got a decent video of some revs and fly-by of AWE exhaust + AP intake:

Picking up my 340i in a few weeks and I'm planning to add the axle back exhaust shortly thereafter. The videos are a tremendous help but I'm still torn on adding the midpipe... any downside to only going with the axleback setup? Some of the midpipe videos make it seem quite a bit louder when installed.

No downside other than that you are missing out! The midpipe makes the biggest difference imo. It will definitely be louder than just the axle back but not obnoxious (unless you are constantly backing off throttle at 5k rpm, which I'm positive you won't be able to stop doing). Obviously everyone has different preferences but I think it's the ideal volume for a daily. I always ask my friends what it sounds like from the outside and most of them say "it's not obnoxious but you can tell it's not stock". It's pretty quiet when you are just cruising but it's like a trumpet once you get on the gas.

If you are torn, you can just start with the axle-back and then get the midpipe later on if you aren't satisfied.

Thanks, the input is helpful and I like the idea of starting with just the axleback and adding midpipe if I want more.

I suppose another question is: how much louder is the axleback than stock exhaust in sport/sport+?
