'16 428i and an iphone. The phone connects and works fine but dont see anything that shows its connected other than trying it or or looking at the connects. Is there an indicator somewhere?

U should see name of ur phone n service bars on idrive screen.

Thats what I would expect but I dont see it. Does it have to be enabled in the settings or something?

Have you tried removing the car from your phone BT settings and adding it again?

Does it not show the signal bars on idrive when the phone connects?

I have not tried removing it. I dont see any indication that it connected unless I press the phone button on the console which will show the contacts

Is it currently selected for phone calls? I.E. if you go into phone, connected devices, which boxes are checked for your specific device?

I can make and receive calls. One thing that I noticed today is and very top is a few bars that are incredibly small. Is that for the phone? There is also mail icon

If so, that's you indicator that the phone is connected and what signal strength you have.

Yes, I do have those bars. The pix in the link shows a name next to the bars which could be the name of the phone??? I dont have that tho

I think that's the radio station....

yup, that's the radio station. I just checked on my 2015 535d. The bars are your cell connection, the text is the station (or track) name, not your phone name.
