Question Sunroof

Is it uncommon for a US market F30 to not have a sunroof? All of mine from the 90,s to present have had them. 36,s 46,s, 90,s x3,s etc…

Pretty uncommon. I don't believe I've ever seen an F30 without a sunroof. The M cars however, are another story

I've never seen an F30 with a sunroof. It is an option, not necessarily a popular one in the northeast. Never seen an F34 without one, as it was standard.

Garage List
On the 320i and on the 328i & 330i in the later years the sunroof was optional.

It is a bit on the small side, but that also means that the car keeps some of its' body rigidity.
I like to think the engineers had that in mind when they designed it.

+1!! The G20 sunroof is bigger and it creaks and it doesn’t fully open like the F30 does. The G20 roof only opens about two thirds.

I never use mine, other than the tilt for ventilation when parked. But I never close the liner either, the extra light that comes through makes the cockpit less claustrophobic.

I'm a sunroof guy. If I ever get a M car, a sunroof is a must.

I use mine every chance I get and like others have said the extra light really opens up the cockpit. Will always look for sunroof on future purchases. Really like how they look on F31’s

I love mine, use it any chance I get. I also regret it is a standard size and a bit aft. Sadly not as big as on the A5 for example. A week ago I saw the i4 sunroof - slightly bigger, electric shade underneath too.

The sunroof has always been an option in Europe and therefore not too common, I'd say < 50% of the F3x I see have it.

F30 can be had without sunroof on 320/328/330i. 340 comes standard and m cars may have cf roof instead.

Just a note: Not in Europe. Option irrespective of the engine selection. At least for the 4 Series, pretty sure the same for the 3.

You can press the slide button again after it opens all the way and it will open up a little further to give a larger opening.

I have a sunroof but would prefer a slick top and marginally improved headroom.

I know that. Which also makes the airflow turbulent.
I wasn’t talking about extra 2cm though, but about a sun-roof like the A5 has.

I'd prefer my 440i without a sunroof I never use it. The windows rolled down is enough for air and sunlight imo.

I saw a Kies video where they cut off the sunroof and roof panel from their 335i and put on an M3 carbon fiber roof. Sh*t was legit. I'd love to do that but I'd imagine it would lower resale value and I'm no retrofit ninja but I imagine it could introduce some electrical problems or codes at the very least.

I don’t care for it. Just one more thing to easily break. I’m already seeing it happen regularly.

Has anyone been able to code that short-stop out (open the sunroof all the way with one button push instead of two) ?
