$1700 below invoice?
Hi I just got a quote for a new 2015 335i from a private dealer (the car will be ordered from a BMW "wholesale department", but this private dealer is just a middle man of finding me the best deal). Let me know what you guys think of the quote, and also what do I have to watch out for if I am using a private dealer as a middle man?
2015 335i MSRP $57875 Selling Price: $52069 ($1700 below invoice, $500 innovation/$1000 Driving Event) Total out the door: $1485 with transfer plate fee Monthly payment: $575 (36mo, 10k/yr) Last edited by Prissy; 10-13-2014 at 10:48 PM.. |

I've never heard of such a thing as a "private dealer". I think in nearly all States, dealers of any stripe must be licensed and bonded ($$$$) and their sales facility must meet certain standards (even more $$$$$). Plus I don't think BMW NA would dare undercut their dealers by selling through a "wholesale department", if there is such a thing.
My advice: Watch Your Six.

OK. It sounds like your "private dealer" is some sort of auto broker (also required to be bonded and licensed in many States). Car dealers sometimes refer to these guys as "bird dogs". They get a kick back from the dealer or salesman for pointing the customer their way, and possibly negotiating the deal. Just make sure when it comes to closing the deal, you're working with somebody at the BMW dealer. BMW "wholesale department" is a bunch of baloney.
