Lights/any electrical issues is complex to diagnose, yet alone very risky to attempt a repair. My E90 had a halo ring malfunction a long time ago and it was seen by an independent bmw mechanic as well as two different dealerships, the issue is still unresolved.

Your best bet with electrical work is just to head to an expert you trust, or the dealer.
