Melting line near radiator

I'm doing my accessory belt right now and noticed this pending disaster. Can some remind me what line this is? It's the innermost of the two that run across the radiator fan housing.

That’s the cable for the hood release, mine is doing that as well- seems like a common problem I haven’t found a solution to yet- I ended up just wrapping it in some heat resistant tape until I come across a better solution

It looks like the hood release cable. That's probably caused by rubbing, not heat. Get a short piece of fuel hose, split it and wrap it around that section.

Thanks guys. It really is a mess. It's tacky and smearing all over everything it touches.

I have time to patch this up per your recommendations. My original belt replacement turned into one of those "30 minutes turns into 3 days" repairs today.
