Transmission oil level check

Hi all.
Long story short: recently I had my gearbox replaced (incl. oil/filter change) and adaptation. After that my car still shifts a bit weird and someone suggested to check if there is enough oil in the transmission. Gearbox code is GA8HP50Z.

Is it true, that in order to check transmission oil level I just need to get ATF temperature in 40-50 degrees range and remove fill plug? And if there is enough oil it should be only a slow stream coming out ?

Like in this FCP Euro video around 13:30 ?

Thanks!
