Angel eyes dim when using turn signals

Hi everyone,

I was searching for the following coding (if possible) on a F30 from 2014:

Is it possible to code the DRL angel eyes to dim when using turn signal?

I have been searching for this and read that TAGFAHRT PWM LVL 2 have to be changed but once changed it doesn't do what I intended to do. (It keeps the same)

Any ideas?

Well the basic is as follows.

get a vacant mapping
PWM 1 and 2 are like 20hex

Change the fucntion to 06 - 07

Priority to 01
output as Tagfahrl or standl depends on you
off mode at PWM level 2
and i think thats it.

No, I am just improvising.
But this will work 90% it will just needs some minor mods with it.

Why should I let you "improvise" on my own car... No thanks!

I have been a bit harsh, sorry for that.

I tried changing various settings, like OFF-MODE etc..

Nothing works.
Probably F30 Pre-LCI is just not suitable for this kinda "codings".

No its suitable, i have done everything on my previous 320i 2015 Pre-lci with xenon headlights, i have tested most of the things that can come to anybody's mind.
The concept is available and i have done similar stuff to it.

I used this concept while trying to make angel eyes dim back and forth when signals is activated, it was like one step ahead of what you requested.
Check the old videos in this page, and you will find it.

Haha! I have a F30 2014 with adaptive xenon.

I do get allot of people for codings, every F20 that came by has this but I can't seem to figure out how to enable it..

Hi, some time has passed, have you managed to figure out how it works?

I have played a bit recently with my pre-LCI f31 in E-sys and this is how this feature supposed to work (AE dim either used with DRL or low beams):

sections MAPPING_TAGFAHRL:
- PWM standard is set to 100% (by default)
- PWM reduced to be set to 12% (for example)
- PWM dependency function set to 06 or 07 (left turn signal 06 and right turn signal 07.
- PWM dependency set to 02 (that is to PWM reduced)

sections MAPPING_STANDL:
- PWM standard to be set to 30% (by default all levels are 8% icl this parameter, so to dim you need to set here a higher brightness)
- PWM reduced to be set to 12% (for example)
- PWM dependency function set to 06 or 07 (left turn signal 06 and right turn signal 07.
- PWM dependency set to 02 (that is to PWM reduced)

So when you switch on eg the left turn signal, the dependency PWM will get activated, ie, angel eyes on the corresponding side suppose to get dimmed). This should work both for DRL and low beam AE dimming.

For DRL (TAGFAHRL) it seems that BMW has even thought about this, since if you check the pre-defined dependency function values, turn signal l/r is already there!

Results: no dimming at all only if emergency signal is active, then it dims AEs on both sides. So I have tried another thing..

When I set PWM standard to 100% on one side and to 12% (and the reduced PWM values were 12% on both sides) on the other side, the dimming suddenly worked on the side where the standard brightness was 100% (on the other side there was no difference between standard and reduced..).

I have tried to use for example SIDEMARKER_L/R to override the brightness on the opposite side (in EU spec cars this is not used. Also to make sure an override will happen I gave SIDEMARKER a higher priority), but then on that side where the turn signal was activated the dimming did not work.

The conclusion therefore is that the left and right side brightness are somehow tied together and works according to a function max(brightness left, brightness right). That is, it will not work to dim AE only on one side at a time. That is why with the emergency signal it worked, because in that case the dimming was activated on both sides at the same time and the max() function resulted the lower brightness value on both sides.

Given that BMW added pre-defined values for dimming in case of DRL, there must be an attribute somewhere outside of this block that enables/disables this max() function.

Has anyone managed to find where and how it is controlled?
If for the 20 series it works and has the same headlight unit, an f20 cafd file should give the answer...
